Default Seller cancelled bids scam

I bid on an item of £450 I was the highest bidder
And seller cancelled bids and I can only presume he wanted more money for the item and it was an auction so
How does eBay allow this when there is no reserve
And it's annoying to say the least

I realise why sellers don't use reserve price
as it cost 4% fees and eBay are milking it they make 9 billion a year

I guess sellers can cancel bids if the auction isn't going there way and the bids are low it kind of takes the fun out of an auction and why dont they use buy it now instead of wasting everyone's time

It is allowed and I have an auction at present with a bidder with no feedback and the auction could go quite high and I am not keen especially as they have just joined from an African nation (I only sell to people in this country). I would be more inclined to cancel that auction if he is still the highest bidder with a coupe of hours to go, the chance of a scam buyer returning empty boxes after delivery is too high.

Sellers hope auction draws more interest and it will be sold at a higher price.

If sellers end the auction, they still get charged a fee for it.

Didnt EBAY have a rule at one time,if seller closes an auction listing with bids,he has to pay the FVF of the high bid amount?
This is to catch those sellers who decide to sell the item outside Ebay ,avoiding FVF .

Where is the scam? Seller still pays ebay fees, seller receives no income, just losses, bidders have no financial loss.....

No Scam to be found.

No one forces you to use reserve, you should do your homework and find out reserve is 4%,or you should read Ebay message of how much to list an item,it is there before you hit the button
