Registering Hi
As we know it used to be possible to just use pretty much any random name/address with Ebay in the pre-MP days.
Can that still work, or do the details need to be verifiable?
Thanks |
Re: Registering still works for eb but you provide real details to MP... |

if verification fails accounts will be suspended , they usually allow 1-2 attempts but if the last attempt fails account is done |

TBH I don't think they've created an account for many years now, indeed probably don't even sell any more. |

Thanks | Its still fine to do but you have to go through verification which is tough to pass |

TBH I don't think they've created an account for many years now, indeed probably don't even sell any more. | let's not get into this again - i don't question your operations so don't make suppositions about mine. i definitely don't sell at your levels of volume.
just to clarify, i have created a few eb accounts lately - primarily US and CAN - i do have working UK accounts but i haven't created new ones in awhile.
for the newer accounts [and older ones], I have used stealth info on eb but i use an address that i have access to so it's not TOTALLY random.
for the MP segment, i have used real info with bank account. |

You dont want your buyer to return your item to a phony address |

I once made an account where I made a mistake with the name and put Fndrew, instead of Andrew and the account didn't get banned which is odd |
| murdered_by_ebay | 08-11-2023 12:48 PM | Re: Registering ebay registration address is always the MP registration address
putting wrong or bogus details on new accounts is not a problem at all because verification comes later but once it comes the account will be suspended if the wrong information is not corrected
they allow 1 attempt nowdays |

they allow 1 attempt nowdays | When you say verification, are you talking about the screen where it asks you for full name, date of birth and then does phone verification? Or are you talking about something that happens further down the line after the account is made? |
| murdered_by_ebay | 08-11-2023 03:19 PM | Re: Registering no , I mean actual verification of personal details , if the check fails you will be asked to provide correct details , this happens once a turnover of about 400-1000 pounds has been accumulated or it may happen with no or little turnover at a later date as all accounts will be verified at some point |

So you could sell on the account for a short while with just a random name and address. |

| murdered_by_ebay | 08-11-2023 05:49 PM | Re: Registering it can be used short term but such verification is more difficult to pass as it is verification after failed attempt to verify
this is risk#1 and risk#2 is that you don't know when it starts so that any balance will be frozen once it starts and if it fails a second time the balance will be gone |

Because they are already checking your details at that stage and if the information you supply doesn't match public records then they will suspend you. |
| murdered_by_ebay | 08-12-2023 06:39 PM | Re: Registering MP do check delayed , with business accounts they used to check immediately but now it seems to be delayed as well
in any case credit check will be done once some turnover has come in or once a certain period of time has passed
they do not suspend if details do not match , suspensions on new accounts are random in most cases |
