Any UK know how to reset 'Virgin Optic Fiber' IP Address?

Hi
Does anyone here have, or know how to reset an ip address with Virgin Fiber Optic Broadband.

There is no rooter as such, the cable plugs directly in to the wall.

You would be helping me out BIG time if you can solve this one!!

Cheers guys for any assistance

as far as I know you can't change it as it is fixed IP only way is to call virgin and ask I want to change my fix IP and they will change it for you. they some time ask reason and some time not you can ask them you have been mistakenly block on some internet forums etc reason,

The other solution is buy O2 internet dongle and every time you conect and disconect you will have new IP

thanks

Yes you are right, the only way to reset this is to call them and ask them to change the ip address.

It would be best to think of a reason for the change, I wouldnt ever say "well I am banned on a site because of this ip and I want to get back on"

I would probably say "it appears that the ip address I currently have has been recycled and I am having problems when trying to register with a website, I would like to change the ip and see if the problem persists"

Also you will have to persevere and get the right techie to do this. Some are not very good and wont have much of an idea of how to do this, but other techies will recognise this straight away and change the ip.

Also think for the future to change your provider when the contract ends. A dynamic ip provider that changes everytime you switch the router off is so much more convenient.

you ARE able to change your virgin IP. I do it regularly.. you do need a router though

Change your router MAC Address by 1 digit and it will change. It worked for me....
