Default PAYG sim for phone verification

hi guys, sorry to bring this subject up again, as it seems to have been covered before, but i was hoping for some up-to-date UK info, as a lot of the threads are from last year or the year before.

basically, i was able to verify an ebay account the other day simply by plugging a £2 vodafone pay-as-you-go sim into my mobile. why does everyone on here recommend a dedicated landline? (or a routed virtual landline) am i missing something?

i saw a post from another memeber on here saying the same thing a while back, so Ive sent them a pm, but i'd appreciate any further comments or thoughts.

cheers!

Works fine for ebay verifiation. Even when they want to call you to give you an input code. Great thing is u dont even have to top the sim up.
Does not work for paypal verification tho!! Obviously got more brains

Do you enter the mobile phone number as primary or secondary number on ebay registration?

Well after no replies I madew a new ebay account and put a mobile number in instead of a landline, guess what, waste of time and a virtual card, so anyone reading this thinking a mobile number will work to varify your new ebay accounts well it wont work.

Did you try moving the digits around? As in, first five digits of the number as the area code?

I know what you mean, dead forum users who post and then disappear, never to bother following up again.

ok, I thought this was BS when I read it...mobiles do not work to make seller account as far as I know, however this is the second forumer who has said it does work (out of dozens who say it does not), the other forumer did it and then said it worked but was limited shortly after, did it by inputting country code first, I seem to remember...

anyhow, if anyone has been successful with this post her, but as I say I doubt it...
