Default Costco

Hi guys,

For those of you who know of the wholesaler/supermarket Costco I wondered if any of you have membership here?
To become a member I think you need to be a business owner. I want to try and get membership here but they ask for the following:

1) An original copy of a current utility bill (i.e. Gas, Electricity, Telephone) from a business address or business bank statement.

2) VAT registration certificate.

or

1) An original copy of a current utility bill from a business address or a bank statement.

And

2) Two pieces of business ID (i.e. Business cheque, Letterhead, Invoice to your business address).

Is there some way to blag these? I only have my ebay business...

the only thing I can think of is to get a bank to open a business account in a business aka, then you have cheque and statement, statement can be in your home address. The letterhead can be diy of course.

thing is you were struggling for banks anyway werent you? will any of the prepaid banks allow a business name account?

I believe you can get a Gold Star Membership at Costco for personal use, without a business.

Not sure if we have a Gold Star Membership at Costco in the UK..maybe USA only?

Oompa i was thinking that too..but i thought there might have been an easier way than getting it the "legit" way. Yes I'll ask my bank for a business account .

thanks

Sole trader working from home ?

Sole trader would most likley be your own name and address anyway .

1) in list one would be the same as 1) in list 2
2) you would not need v.a.t reg as your a sole trader

2) make your own letter head and invoice in the same address

thats how i would try it on

Never tried though.

Dont you know anyone with an account - they should be able to give you a card.

RSOT: they want original copies

TIZWOZ: I could pose as a sole trader and say my turnover is less than the £70k annual threshold so I dont need VAT certificate. Then i could fabricate an invoice and a letterhead and bring my bank statements with me.

I'll let you know how i get on!

Original copies are also easy to do - just print an "Original copy" on it in red letters. Costco is not the brightest operation in the world and it is just the folx at the counter who do the registration (I speak of Canada from experience).

Letterhead is simple. Business invoice is simple too.

What? your saying scan/print a bank statement and write "orignal copy" on it? then print it out on normal paper?

Exactly - use red ink stamp or, if you are up for a little more...nefarious means...put a notarized stamp on it. I would say you should use bond paper not just regular copy paper bud.
