Smile is ebay a really empire business?

Hi everybody,

I have been ebaying for quiet a while making some inconsistent income due to ebay banning me for no reason .

I just want to know other ebayers opinion on this.If we can really build a business empire on ebay/amazon.

What do you think guys?

Inconsistant - thats eb ay in a nutshell.

Well the exact problem is what you have defined in your post in that eb ay do seem to suspend accounts for what we see as "no reason"

In there eyes there always is a valid reason it just so happens that 9/10 times its hazy to say the least.

I feel where your coming from though. In the past i have had a very strong account that employed 3 people and was making me a decent income. It was selling legitimate goods and operating in a reasonably good manner. However one sloppy staff member and what eb ay viewed as "poor" dsr's (dispatch time at a 4.6 out of 5!) and the account was suspended.

This knock on effect closed all our other accounts - all with real info and set up as genuine accounts. This left our addresses - warehouse, seperate shop and 2 residential address "blacklisted" along with my name etc.

This leaves me in the position i am in now - wondering if i can salvage another real business out of this - much like you i assume?

From what i have read over the last weeks i dont think its possible to do this in a real scaleable way. Its crazy really - we are all acting like criminals, hiding in the shadows when really were just trying to run a genuine business.

Id love to hear other people stance on this.

Yes you can run a lucrative business on Ebay or Amazon. But it takes time and patience to build accounts that last. It's all about starting slow and building trust with Ebay, Paypal and Amazon. So don't get too greedy and open multiple accounts so if one account goes down then you are left starting from scratch!

Multiple accounts are the answer. That way, eBay cannot shut down 100% of your business in one hissy-fit.

Also, you should have multiple sales venues.

The internet provides an incredible opportunity for even the smallest business owners to practice risk-management.

you should have complained, if your business was above board, you should have sent an email to the head of ebay.

well you can build a business that makes a reasonable, average income, but it is always at risk, never put all your eggs in one basket. My opinion is do not rely on it, keep it part-time and have other interests, whether it is a job or a website.

But i am in a very much position in which lucrative is!!

I dont think that one can really scale on ebay/amazon.You cannot rely on them for actul business,they can shut you down any moment.It is better to hatch eggs in different baskets ,websites, affiliates .
One should not make mistakes what we have gone through of completely depending on them.

Plant some different seeds in different soils guys.

The only thing that im clinging onto here is that some users on here are clearly very knowledgeable experts on "eb ay loopholes" as it were and if they are making business's work on eb ay then perhaps we can too learn some of this knowledge and make ours work.

I get the feeling though that, due to eb ays ever changing policies, the days of having long standing business accounts with high feedback and dsr's are gone be they genuine accounts or stealth.

I've only been doing this for a year and i'm doing pretty well from it. The key as said above is MULTIPLE accounts. Spread that crap out over your accounts and their will be no issues. If you lose one account who cares, you've got another 20 in back-up. YEEE- HAAA

I personally love ebay+paypal because without them, i'd have nothing, simple as that.

your right there i basically live of my ebay money :( ... lost my main account over christmas has hit me hard lost me a fair bit of money need to start again from scratch

I do agree that multiple accounts is a solution but then its lots of work and attention involved,that is one mistake is done all of your accounts can be drained.

Hell lot of work guys.

I agree with others that have said it before me, why are you relying totally on ebay to make a living. They are no longer viable to use as the only place you sell.

Try some of the alternatives if you do not want to set up your own site, and if you have the products, then try several of them and every time ebay cans your account then make use of your ebay customer list, telling them where you sell.
Make sure you make use of the lower or zero listing fees and offer your customers a bargain off ebay.

Look at the big companies that started using ebay, who are using ebay to advertise their own sites

Remove certain products or combination's of products from ebay and tell your customers with parcel advertising, email advertising and any other advertising you can think of that does not get you kicked

Ebay can keep making changes and everything we use today to get back on may one day be gone, so use them like some expensive advertising and be prepared for the future.
Yes it all takes work but better start working now than when you are sitting on your hands listening to the debt collectors knocking at your door after ebay have done something else that damages your sales or closes your account.
