Default Paypal yearly limits every tax year?

Hi.

I have read about the yearly paypal limits due to the eu rules etc.

Does anyone know if it is every tax year (april to april) or is it from when you first open up the pp acount?

I wanted to know as so I can keep eye on the yearly money going into my pp.

Thanks in advance

At moment, I only want £1000 / year going through my pp account, so I am hoping I wont need to lift any limits. Thats why it would be handy to know the answer to the original question

To above.....

My original question is not really about paying tax (I am not that good at explaining - should have gone to school)......

It is more to do with pp poking their nose in and asking for id, ringing me or any of that extra verification nonsense etc. as I get close to their eu rule of the 1900 receiving limit.

I thought if I would limit the amount going into my pp at about 1000 a year (soon be rich!) then I could carry on quietly for years without any pp hassle.

Thats is why if I knew from when to when pp count their year from, I could monitor it, so year by year I would be under the 1900 receiving limit and pp would not really notice me.

Soz for the bad explanation again!!!!

any feedback would be appreciated.... thats not eb feedback by the way.... yes I know... bad at explaining and bad at cracking jokes..... but blessed with stunning good looks (yeah right)

Hi Alps,

I think I know what you mean. You want PP to not bother you with phonecalls and hassle right?

I can not guarantee they wil not, but that plan of yours to stay under the radar by receiving only around £1000 per year on each PP is a good way of doing it.

You can actually receive upto £1650 a year without PP bothering you. I would play it safer though and get around £1500 a year from each verified PP. Then you can wait a whole year and the limits reset, assuming the account does not get taken down.

It was actually something I was considering recently. It does mean a lot of verified accounts though.

About the tax year thing: It does not matter to PP when you open the account. They go by the date when you receive your first payment into the account, then the clock starts and you can see that on the account 'view limits' section.

Hope this helps?

Yes, £1650 is when they start sticking their nose in and asking for you to 'lift the limits' by completing a checklist of stuff.

Guys from my experiene they can and sometimes do ask for extra info. to lift limits much earlier than 1500....ive experienced this at 1100 before.

I believe it depends on the speed in which you are selling on the account, for instance if you hit £1000 runnin through the account in the first 2 months then this may trigger limitation. However if you ran say only 100-150 a month then this would give you much greater chance of avoiding this.
