Default "within" 180 days???

Hi,

Sent a personal payment last night from a Stealth. Like a pleb the phone number attached was on active divert to my phone...half an hour after sending payment I got a call...but after 3/4 bottle of wine and a great film I couldn't be arsed to answer. No sooner had it stopped ringing that I thought Nooooooo...I bet that was PayPal!!!!

Depressed and despondent I didn't log on last night but waited till the inevitable this morning. Two strong coffees and I open my emails. No surprises! Whammoooo! YOUR ACCOUNT IS LIMITED EMAIL. I open it up and was quite shocked to see that I was getting asked for details of transactions and at the same time getting the 180 day jail card.

Dear Pillock who didn't answer the phone when we rang,

We recently noticed an issue with your account.

What's the problem?

For reasons relating to the safe use of the PayPal service we need some
more information about some of your recent sales.

Reference Number: BITE ME

To see what you can and can't do while your account is limited, please go
to the Resolution Centre.

You'll be able to withdraw money from your account within 180 days. We'll
email you when it's available. We just want to make sure that you have
money in your account to cover any payment reversals.

Yours sincerely,
PayPal

There are no options for me to lift my limits in the to do list so I guess they have ragged me good and proper.

What surprised me was the word WITHIN 180 DAYS.

Is this new? I have previously got the we will hold it for 180 days or you can receive your funds in 180 days. Never 'within'.

Is this likely to impact on how soon we can get a cash?

New-ish, yes.

More anecdotal than enough confirmed info for me (at least) to say fact.

Some users are being told by paypal that they have a permanent limitation & (graciously) funds may be available within 180 days.

Like you, no wham bam appeal mam on the account. It's a quasi nice Dear Matty.
Now what has happened? After a suitable period of mourning loss of account, an approach to paypal to release funds before expiry is successful.

No everyone is lucky. That option has occurred. From my analysis, such accounts have been bordeline in long term survival. It's a real lot of info & I've not enough to expand

Ergo: Call PP after 90 days and try to get it released sooner. All the best.

I have had the exact same email - the account was reinstated soon afterwards (24 hours later), without any intervention from me, leading me to believe this was a 'soft limitation' email. I assumed it was another paypal cock-up.

2 weeks after, the account was permanently limited, without any apparent provocation.

Moral of the story - if they do reinstate you, get your cash out ASAP (or as fast as you dare)!

Let us know of any developments.

Something else was up with your account most probably; I doubt you'd get the 180 days email simply for not answering a call from them.
