anybody having trouble with customs ireland

hi, just wondering if anybody from ireland is having trouble getting stuff through irish customs, latly everything i get from china, gets held ,and sometimes never released, even when i send an invoice etc.

GrannyT 07-26-2011 01:25 PM

Could be time to stop buying 'naughty' stuff from China. I have one account that I have recently stocked from China. So far 14 parcels, 3 opened by customs, no problems.

I do know Irish and UK customs sometimes work together but I can't see them working together on Chinese stuff unless you are seriously illegal.

Maybe just bad luck?

all my stuff are legit , got 5 phones held, over a month now,the wont release them. and every order that comes in from china are opened, and sometimes i don't get them at all. ie, usb webcams, usb port adapters, strange thing is my brother orders allot more then me, dvd, etc, and never stopped, all ems, to portlaoise .

oompaloompa 07-26-2011 01:41 PM

have you been stopped in the past at that address? and these are not branded phones?

seamusmct 07-26-2011 01:45 PM

never been stopped at that address, i use 4 address , some get through, some dont, phones are oem. so should have no problem getting through. they are always valued low.i send a invoice from the supplier and from paypal. both match of cores.. think i might use dhl in future.

GrannyT 07-26-2011 01:55 PM

Hmmm - do they give you a reason?
:pop2:

oompaloompa 07-26-2011 02:22 PM

I agree, I am flummoxd, unless its the seller (return) address that is banned somehow...

seamusmct 07-26-2011 02:44 PM

it might b the return address. must look into that

GrannyT 07-26-2011 02:51 PM

What reason do they give you though

:pop2:

seamusmct 07-26-2011 03:09 PM

thats a very good question, they keep asking for a credit card statement, even though i pay with paypal. so i send in the paypal receipt, and they wont except it.
very strange, maybe someone working their has an ebay account and is selling all the stuff he stops.

GrannyT 07-26-2011 03:38 PM

Why would customs want a credit card statement? What if you had paid by LC or bank transfer? Something doesn't sound right. Have you spoken to them?
:suspicious:

seamusmct 07-26-2011 04:01 PM

yea spoke to them, and they keep inciting on a cc receipt. strange but true.

GrannyT 07-26-2011 04:04 PM

OK - tell them "I didn't pay with a credit card - can I have my phones please?"

Iv'e always used EMS from China and have never once had a problem with customs.

Iv'e Probably got over 30 large packages through customs with not one bit of hassle.

Almost every time I deal with branded items.

I live in Kilkenny so every item goes through portlaoise.

I really cant see how you could get so unlucky :suspicious:

seamusmct 07-26-2011 04:22 PM

my brother is the same, never has any prob getting stuff through customs.
someone is on a scam

Superdude 07-26-2011 04:31 PM

Strange. Are you using the same name on each address no?

It would seem to me that customs saw what you were doing( i.e buying in branded items), and maybe kept an eye on all imports coming in addressed to your name.

Its the only explanation I can think of really!

seamusmct 07-26-2011 04:36 PM

what i do is ,, i have 3 address , and alternate between them, alter the paypal invoice to correspond with the address i am using at that time. has been working fine for a year or so, but this last few months, everything is opened and held.

KoltiKolt 07-29-2011 01:52 PM

there might be something going on. my package from china is awaiting customs clearance for 2 days now. it has always used to be less than a day ( during the week). any other sellers reporting this issue?

stickmade 07-30-2011 06:23 PM

I use Ireland aswell to import my goods since I'm in northern Ireland I have access to a southern address in donegal all they want is tax money half my packages get opened and I have to send them paypal invoices which I have to alter aswell. Ireland and uk customs are a bloody pain in the arse at the moment. Peace

seamusmct 07-31-2011 04:30 AM

yea,its all a money collecting exercise , anybody ever use dhl.etc. what's the charges with them.?

Re: anybody having trouble with customs ireland

So it is not only Paypal Ireland customer service that sucks, also Ireland customs suck. This Ireland not a good country to live in definitely.

Re: anybody having trouble with customs ireland

either yours or your suppliers address can be blacklisted by UK / Irish border control.
This doesnt stop all packages from getting through but if they clock your address on their system when scanning it increases chances of being detained
