| markc | 08-24-2011 01:41 PM | Good IP provider Can anyone recommend a good ip provider (that lets you change ip address)
as i am on virgin media and cant seen to change ip address
who do you recommend
thanks Mark |
| Ebayorbust | 08-25-2011 12:06 AM | BT is easy to use but pricey |
| Alps_a somewhatlegend | 08-25-2011 02:39 AM | Yes, BT I find is good and very fast to change the IP - about 10 - 25 seconds odd.
I also heard Sky are OK, but I have had no experience with them so I cant confirm.
If none of those suit, there are always dongley wongleys - bit slower than above 2, but works a treat. |
| plimsole | 08-25-2011 04:28 AM | i am on virgin media and can change IP address 3 times per day do you have a connection straight to your modem or do you have a router then modem ? Do you have a router ? if you contact virgins "we are thinking of leavin virgin, department" they will send you a wirelss router free |

| oompaloompa | 08-25-2011 06:37 AM | switch off and on router button and keep checking with ipburger |
i would NOT recommend sky for ip address switching
it takes too long sometimes for the ip to change, and even when you switch the router off and on it still gives you the same,it still works but there are better options out there
dongles work great, any of the mobile phone providers provide them and i heard they are all pretty decent
have a look here Pay-As-You-Go Mobile Broadband Deals | PAYG Mobile Internet Genie
plenty of pay as you go or contacts to choose from
bt broadband is great for switching ip address also |
| NightStalker | 08-25-2011 08:06 AM | bt unlimited option where you can join openzone
you can connect as many p'cs as you like to the openzone at the same time using the same login details and all the computers will have different i.p's |
| GreenBean | 08-25-2011 08:21 AM | Think TizWoz like that one as well, NS :thumb: |

I put a thread out a few weeks ago about how BT offer unlimited openzone and BTFON minutes for free. Each time you connect, you get a completely different IP. That way you can "hold" an IP using your router (BTHomeHub 3), whilst using a different IP on the Openzone, etc...
I have been monitoring the IP's as ever, and I have never come across a duplicate yet. |
yeah bt is a quality service all round,
not expensive really when you compare it with virgin and sky |
| Imakemoney | 08-25-2011 05:25 PM | Disagree about Sky mines and always had a new IP thus far :)
But yeah BT is another provider that offers a dynamic service.
Dongle is also another option but speed can be an issues depending what area you live in.... |
| ryanba | 08-25-2011 05:30 PM | I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with MR GTB, Sky is now terrible for changing IP addresses, I've tried to change my IP address but it does not change at all. |
| Imakemoney | 08-25-2011 05:35 PM | Depends on your router me thinks...
how long you have Sky as your ISP? |
yeah i knew you had sky and was happy with it IM£
but recently i have had a few ip`s come up that i have had previously and sometimes when i turn router off, leave for about a minute and back on again the ip doesn't change
i had bt before and it was much better for ip switching |
| rafiqbd007 | 08-25-2011 05:46 PM | I use TalkTalk everytime i restart it, i get a new ip. |
yeah my cousin is really happy with talk talk
i nearly went there but the reviews about the customer service put me off |
| uk_making_chatters_disapp | 08-25-2011 09:00 PM | sky If you change your ip number on sky..Make sure you keep a record of the ip numbers cos sometimes it gives you an exact ip number that you used a few months ago on the sky method its happened to me so be warned campers |

=Vi have virgin media modem and a dlink dir615 router. I usually change my ip up to 3 times a day before getting a 169 ip address problem. all i do is alter the mac address by 1 digit on my network card or by 1 digit on the cloned mac address on the router. I have 2 linksys 2 line telephone adapters plugged into the router with 4 phones connected to 6 sipgate accounts as well.
i turn off the modem. edit the mac address on the network card or change the last digit of the cloned mac on the router Use numbers 0 to 9 or letters A to F. dont forget to record the old mac address and the old ip address on a spreadsheet. i turn off the computer and re boot the modem. once the modem has settled about a minute i reboot the router and or then the pc. a new ip address appears. i boot up in a different windows id then firefox to ipburger and there’s a new ip. i record this new ip and also the new mac address. if i change more than 3 times i usually get a 169 ip address from windows meaning it didnt get an ip from virgin. if i need to go back to the previous windows id and ip address i look up the previous mac address edit it from the current and re boot etc usually getting the previous IP address. Where I live a dongle is very slow or at worst no connection.
| this is what i do . |
a stealthers gotta do what a stealthers gotta do
well done:thumb: |
| Alps_a somewhatlegend | 08-26-2011 10:19 AM | To all the Virgin crew that can change their IP thanks. I dont have that setup but I knew for certain there was a way and you lot confirmed my suspicions - nice one.
If I did have Virgin, I would have kicked arz like you lot. |

| plimsole | 08-26-2011 03:50 PM | id love BT but the boss wont let me have a bt cable fixed to the roof apex. Im managing with virgin which is underground. Local parish council have just blocked a mobile phone mast that would give me great access with a dongle. sob sob |
| northernlad | 07-17-2012 08:52 AM | So can I just get this straight ... with one of those mobile internet dongle, the IP address changes everytime you use it?? Ive got a TMobile one knocking around somewhere PAYG... that would get round the same IP recorded issue??? Thanks. Quote:

Thanks. | I wouldn't give you a cast iron guarantee, but it's almost certain that you'll get a new IP when disconnecting/reconnecting. |

make sure you are connected to the internet via the tmobile dongle
go here IP Burger - What is my IP Address? Find Your IP Address!
check your ip address and note it
then log off...turn the dongle off
then log back on and check again
sometimes you may get same ip so always check |
| Stigger | 07-18-2012 07:49 AM | In regards to stealth and multiple ip addresses bt is unbeatable.
Only provider i know you can have more than one i.p at once.
for example, 4 laptops all connected at the same time with different i.p's |

think your getting your i.p address confused. | after working broadband tech support for 5 years (2004-2009), I think I might know what an IP address is. you're saying you can get 4 different IPs from 1 connection. i'm saying that's not possible unless you're on BT Business BB. Unless things have changed dramatically. |
| plimsole | 07-18-2012 01:33 PM | Derby Dave are you in Derby ? I'm in Notts Quote:
