you got to connect another router

you need to take the router functions out of the modem and then connect an external one to get new i.p's

quite tricky but i can throw you some instructions if you want.

plimsole 09-21-2011 02:17 PM

which router is it please ? is it separate from the modem ? my virgin router is a
D Link dir 615 seperate from the modem

plimsole 09-21-2011 02:19 PM

sorry i should learn to read

ebayhater86 09-21-2011 02:25 PM

its a virgin media hub vmdg280.

I had an old ambit cable modem but through it away a few months back :(

would swapping modems work right enough?

Stigger 09-21-2011 02:32 PM

yes sorry i was not clear.

i think there is no maual way to change your i.p, even if you use a m.a.c address changing tool, so the only other way i know is to connect a second router and connecting your laptop then going in to DMZ and configering it thus giveing you a second i.p

ngconsider contacti virgin (the " we are thinking of leaving section") and explain that due to the construction of the internal walls using breeze blocks they attenuate the radio signal. This means that there is poor coverage essential locations. This will require a separate router in an alternative part of your home to give full radio coverage. I actually have this problem here because i live in a bungalow and have a modem in the room where the cable comes inside then a cable goes to the router in the roof space giving me all round coverege. if the router was in the modem room 3 rooms get hardly any signal. hpefully they will supply an alternative modem with seperate router

good luck mate but not sure that will do what you want, it's down to changing i.p, you cannot do that with the modem you have so you need to incoparate a second route, two routers, other wise if you just replce the one you have you will be in the same place with the same i.p

first router 192.168.0.1

second router 192.168.0.10

3 dongle here, surely that would work?

cortex 09-25-2011 03:16 PM

Get a dongle. £30 for 3months. Problem solved. Move on.

tikade 09-26-2011 07:43 AM

I have a 3 dongle

Am i right in thinking every time i disconnect then reconnect it gives me a new ip and if this is the case does eb not get suspicious with you having a new address every time you log in ?:juggle:

ebayhater86 09-26-2011 08:26 AM

i think if you do as the stealth guide suggests, creating a new user account in windows and dont clear cookies etc..

Then doesnt look that suspicious, IMO

not 100% sure though

cortex 09-26-2011 12:04 PM

Tikade: yes the IP address is dynamic. IVe been using this method for many months now with no problems so far.

tikade 09-27-2011 10:45 AM

Ebhater , Cortex

Thanks for that can go ahead with one now wish me good luck
