OMG..can't believe there is so much paranoia about contacting EB to raise limits, if you don't ask you don't get..SIMPLES!! no they will not ask for business documentation, they will simply ask for your name..your log in details and poss address details..that's it..they will ask you to put forward why your limits should be increased and also will ask you what you're selling..with regards to selling designer clothes for which they have really clamped down on, you will need to show good feedback from items(designer clothes) already sold, otherwise you're limited to 5 per 30 days..I have phoned them twice to up limits and now i'm upto 600 items which could all be designer branded clothes if i chose to list, that has come off the back of selling only 4 designer items and getting good feedback, they have also said they will increase the limit further in April...(just need my PP account back now lol)..

My advice is just remember who you are when you phone them!!! hehe

^ Incorrect - ebay now often ask to send a pin to your address to verify its a real address in use by yourself now when you go to lift limits. Therefore make sure its accessible if possible when ever possible :violin:

Two words: ORGANIC GROWTH.

Why risk scrutiny on your account when there is no need when you can run multiple accounts. Organic growth will bring long term accounts..... SIMPLES.

e/b may well ok you for higher limits but you can bet p/p will be having a close look if your selling lots on 'BRANDED' items. RISK, that's all they look at. Get just one VERO complaint through p/p and your toast, no matter how many e/b will let you list.

600 items a month!!! way to many for one account. Rather have 3 @ 200 or even 6 @ 100

Hey everyone here has there own story to tell...how they do it or don't do it..how they have survived..the point i'm making is that whenever someone asks for help the general response i've viewed is one of paranoia of all things EB & PP..why advise against listing 600 branded items?, if you're getting good feedback then why does this have to be a problem? i have encountered several VERO complaints on items i have sold in the past, my items were removed and my PP account was fine, as far as i see it(IMHO) the main problem we as traders/sellers have is the people we sell to, the ones who expected more and if we're not jumping through hoops for, hold us to ransom by threatening to open cases or the threat of un-warranted neg feedback, this is when most flags will get raised..maybe i'm just thinking far too small fry for most of you guys i couldn't be bothered with the hassle of having 6 different accounts i'm just hoping i can lift the limit off one PP account!! whilst it seems i have gone off track, if the original poster of the thread wants my opinion it is to contact them and ask them to raise the limits, just remember who you are pretending to be when you do it, i phoned up twice in the space of 3 weeks and never once did they mention sending a pin to me & last time i phoned was 3 weeks ago...

If it's working for you the carry on as you are, but trust me if you get a VERO complaint through p/p (justified or otherwise) and not e/b as you have been so far then your account will be history. That is a fact, they will close you down immediately with no appeal. Where would your 600 listing limit be then?

There are people here who have lost accounts that were years and years old, TRS, 1000s of +ve FB. The more successful you are the higher the risk you pose to e/b and p/p. That is a fact and eventually they will not accept that risk any further. None of this is overstatement or paranoia but fact. If you choose not to take measure to protect your business and income then all I can say is good luck.

The reason posters here recommend multiple accounts is founded on years of accumulated experience of dealing with e/b & p/p. Your call of course if you choose not to follow that advice but it is what the majority of new posters will be advised because it is undoubtedly the best advice.

I have to say i agree with Noneother, It does not make any sense to put your
account under ''the limelight'' so to speak.
We all work so hard on our seller accounts, and it is just not worth the risk at the end of the day.

I think after reading this whole thread through, the responsible thing would be to open multiple accounts, and let the limits increase on there own.
Then if one day you do get one account shut down, you already have back up accounts
so it would not affect you as much as if you only had the one account.

It is nothing to do with being paranoid, its about being safe.

I did a name variation on my account. And when i did click to increase limits. The questions that came up was my true history. Such as my last 5 digits, address, places i have lived before etc. I hit none of the above. But perhaps its to late. This was weeks ago. My limits did not increase. If i called eBay i would more than likely get hit.

If this account did close, it wouldn't hurt me as there is no money tied up. Still pushing the account and its getting very close to being 90 days old. Will see what happens.

I ahve the same problem. I own two ebay accounts (both started in the year 2005 with a good feedback of 350 en 130) and I have a limit on selling clothes. The limit is ridicolously low: only 30/40 items!!! I registered one account as a business account but the limit stays at 40.

I haven't been active for a while on both accounts, maybe that is the problem? Is it true that after 3 months the limit will be increased?

Limits are a numbers game. Excuse the pun.

I've been applying the stealth principles for about 1.5 years and have a pretty decent amount of accounts. Some accounts that are a year old have 2,000+ item/month limits and others that were created at the same time are stuck on 40.

The best way to have higher limits is to create more accounts. I only wish I had of created more accounts last year, because it's getting tougher and tougher every day.

Put your head down and get to work.

Are all your ebay accounts linked to one paypal account? I don't understand how I can open for example 20 new accounts because they all have to be confirmed..? Weren't you facing any problems because of opening the accounts from the same IP address?

You have to use different IP address for each account - one of the fundamentals of stealth. All new info for each account.

Also, good practice is 1 eB to 1 pp account.

Stealth guide has this all nicely clarified.

Was a good job I created 10 stealth accounts the day after I first saw someone post about 25/750 limits. I dont mind have nearly 20 accounts with good limits and having another 5-10 with smaller that I can build on....

TizWoz - does it matter if you declare yourself as a business OR personal in the long run?

Anyone else start off with 10/£650, then requested confirmation letter code, have their limits increase to 100/£3500 (skipping the 25/£750 limit)??

Mine didn't even let me do the confirmation PIN thing :s

there might be a problem with the final limits of the account if its an eby personal account unless you ring in or upgrade to business.

i seem to be getting limited at 100/3.5 k PCM on eby perosnal account latley.

PP does not matter what you have .

nope i NEVER call ebay for anything. I also always change my account to a business account on the 2nd month of selling.

NEVER call ebay it's always ended sour for me. Even on real accounts!

i never ever do.

thats what im working out....it seems to me all personal eby accounts have a limit of 35000 or 100 MAX without calling in or upgrading to business.
