I'm selling a few ⊗⊗⊗⊗ bags - not high end vero - bags around £25 on ebay. Buyer bought 1, emailed to say it was ⊗⊗⊗⊗, I told her to return it for a refund but she's opened a dispute & said the police have been informed. Buyer lives in england. I am in n. Ireland. What's likely to happen?? Anyone any experience???

Well, for one, The buyer will most likely give you a negative, I don't know what the laws are in Ireland, UK but I doubt she will go after you for a $40 bag. Probably cost more to take you to court.

pretty sure she knew it was phake and bought it with the premeditated thought of opening a case straight after so the rotten old minx can get a freebie.

Check her feedback...she's probably bought a lot of phake Burberry baseball caps, Reebok trainers and jogging bottoms with "JUICY" written across the arse.

the worst that can happen?

you could die in a housefire

No one ever calls the police... if they did call the police, they wouldn't tell you. I'd block her info from buying other things. I like to keep a running block list so when I make a new account I can just add them. Although... selling foo foo bags has problems all by itself. I would suggest looking into other legit means... because let's face it, it's not just one bag you sold... or a few.

Ebay on the other hand , that is a different story.

suck it up , its £20, she is going to win the case anyway. So try to get the positive FB out of her. And give her what she wants. Before ebay stop you from selling all together.

Tell her to leave you + in how you dealt with her rather than on the product, and you will refund her promptly.

That is what I would do.

Email her back.
Thank her for doing the right thing.
Ask for the name & rank of the Police Officer who took her alleged claim. That info is needed for your own claim.
Hint that you will be suing the supplier as soon as the item is returned. Or you have to guess that she is scamming you.

The OP is from Northern Ireland which is in the UK... it isn't (the Republic of) Ireland. So since he isn't from Ireland, he is subject to UK law, not Irish law...

I would'nt worry about law enforcement over a very low priced item as what you are selling...worry more about that house fire though! ha Anyway, do what FE suggested, and go ahead and block the buyer from ever bidding again. It sounds like a scare tactic to me. Just bullying you around.

Good Luck!

?!?! and wondered how they processed the refund... where from?! .... thought all refunds were automatically linked to the funds themselves: i.e. the route the money came in is the same route it goes back out (before they go to your back-up source on file). so if it came in via paypal and is sitting in your balance, it goes back out to the email ad it came from, from this paypal balance.

When that happens, eBay generally seeks reimbursement from you at a later date. This will come from your PayPal account, assuming that it is not limited. If it is, you will get a ton of emails asking you for reimbursement...

And this is why selling foo foo items isn't worth it.

dont listen to anyone who says folks wont call the police

YES THEY WILL

YES THEY DO

YES THEY DID

agreed for a smaller value item allow for some discretion...

for a higher valued amount and someone says they have called the police... dont take it with a pinch of salt... belive it

i had sold some items to a canadian customer and a long standing regular returning customer... i fell on hard times and took a life time to send the goods out... a knock on my door and its the police! the buyer in canada called police here in the uk and thay HAVE to respond!!! its the law
they came and questioned me regarding the missing items and it comes under the theft category
the police actually have very LITTLE rights what so ever... you can even fob them off with a bit of im not the person you are looking for.. as if your stealth theres a good chance you will have your real id on you anyways, say driving licence or other and say you have no idea what they are on about... you can still use this even if your not stealth and the police come knocking... you deny all knoledge and keep your id in your pocket, as i said they have very little power they are just chasing up an enquiry
and if its a stealth name and address your using anyways then you wont have to worry aboutthe police calling ever

but yes they do call rest assured

its a spur you into action scare tactic more than anything... the police go away you resolve the situation as quickly as possible and you hear nothing more

real id account dont sell phoney stuff
put that on your stealth account
