Default UK Customs

hi all,

just a quick one, does anyone know if UK customs take a log of the names that have had packages seized in the past? just wondering if names would flag up and more likely to be stopped at customs for inspection rather than any other Joe Bloggs thats not had anything seized?

cheers

I dont have personal experience of this ( :D ) but I'm fairly sure names and especially addresses get recorded and will flag up. Name alone is probably not enough but a name associated with an address - definitely.

Yes. A database exists.

I can not tell you more or I would have to kill you.(Just had to say that )

People**, addresses are most certainly watched. Depends on the criteria for checking a name. Each check differs.

All info is correlated to Customs records to use if needed.

People** I am defining as addressees or parties getting the goods
all recorded all kept for years

Customs and Excise run a computer system named 'CEDRIC' and believe me if you import and get confiscated you are on it.

It is based in Southend on Sea and Heathrow.

Mess with the police by all means but NEVER mess with Customs and Excise.

Their 'Writ of Entry' would frighten the pants off of you

'writ of Entry' is the recovering of land.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this with customs and excise...what can they do?

The Customs & Excise Writ of Entry was granted by the crown in - I think - 1762.

It gives the officers of Customs and Excise the right to enter any property withing the domain of the United Kingdom to search for contraband. They do not have to have proof, suspicion is enough. They do not have to go to a magistrate. The Police do.

In very many ways officers of HM Customs & Excise have far more powers than the police - and they answer only to the government and the crown (on paper anyway)

Laws that have never been repealed are very powerful

Within the legal system if you get arrested by the police and you claim the police were lying and stitching you up you have a good chance of being believed by the judge.

If you say a Customs officer is lying you will be laughed all the way down to the cells.

Scrupulously honest - they would rather not bring a case than go corrupt - and the judiciary are fully aware of this.

Their investigation department has more resources than most police forces
