Default When to shut up shop for Christmas?

Hi,

This is my firs time selling at Christmas and I was wondering if most people shut up shop completely before Christmas? If so then when is the best time to stop selling?

Thanks

I dont shut.
I just set up holiday settings so punters know there will be a delay from ordering to receiving goods .
In between xmas and new year is excellent as there all sat bored out of there minds pressing buttons on ebay ..
So as long as they know there not going to receive until after new year .. carry on ..

I have actually found that Christmas day is one of the best days to sell.

OK holiday settings sounds good.

Do people pay attention to that then, they don't start asking where their item is?

When do you guys typically enable holiday settings?

i once tired it , wasn't a fan.

Virtually no sales compaired to the account i let run as normal.

for me its all systems go and imo people/business that shut up or use holiday settings help me and the others that don't.

Agree Tiz .
Sales are down about 30% for me when i enable holiday settings but i get one holiday a year and thats xmas so i can live with that .
And 70% is better than zero .
My items are never considered as gifts anyway so i never see an increase in sales in dec in fact its a downturn time for me as there all spending money on presents and not my stuff .. selfish really but nevermind.

eezo they cant help but pay attention it flashes up on the screen the seller is on holiday , ther emay be a delay in receiving your item .
Then they either carry on and buy anyway or shop elsewhere.
It depends on what your selling .
If theres hundreds of guys doing the same thing they will shop around and find someone not on holiday over xmas but for my stuff theres only ever 2 or 3 in the uk doing the same so it works ok for me and in general i sell more between xmas day and new years day than i do all for the month of december but again its down to what you sell .
