Post Office Online Saver

Hello everyone.

I tried reading about this but could not get a definite answer. Does the Post Office Online Saver have Direct Debits or should I treat this like a normal savings , ie, verify, then delete the bank details then input it again when I withdraw?

Thanks in advance

sanitystricken 01-30-2013 02:40 PM

Asked in the Post Office today, they don't accept payments in miss matched names :nono:

they_screwed_me_too 01-30-2013 02:44 PM

What about mr or mrs matched names then?

But seriously, that would be the standard and correct reply from any bank/provider.

It does not mean in reality that it won't accept them. :boink:

You didn't actually ask, did you? :faint:

NoneOther 01-30-2013 02:56 PM

Yes it has been tried.

There are several existing posts regarding it already.

BTW any account will accept a DD mandate initially, the problem is how long they last until rejected by the bank

I guess if used it would be safer to treat it like normal savings and delete the account details after verifying and just add it back when withdrawing. Rather than risking the direct debit to bounce back.

Yep, did indeed! Said that my partner was looking to get her wages paid into my account via DD monthly and she has a different last name, they said that it would be bounced back unless the account was in both names.

Local PO guy has known me for years, and owns a few of the local branches so sure he knows what he's talking about.

NoneOther 01-30-2013 05:35 PM

Standard answer as I said before.

Reality is often very different case.

Eagerly awaiting your feedback.

Batman 01-31-2013 01:27 PM

Theres already threads about this and there have been posts that you should add it and remove it then add it again.

I've sent my proof of id so currently waiting for my account to be opened. when its done ill add it and let you know how it goes.

I have added it now. But the paypal deposit if .01p to get the PIN is not as instant as the others. I will check it again Tom if its there.
I guess it is safer to put it, cancel it, then put it back again. Than risking for the direct debit to bounce back thus losing the bank acct for paypal. I will keep you posted.

Callidus 01-31-2013 04:01 PM

All I know is that the tesco savers work :D

All I will say is BE CAREFUL how you use these in general, variations of names may be better

once you have added the code into pp best to remove, readd when you want to withdraw, goto withdraw, it will ask you then ato add bank but will not ask you to fill DD again.

Batman 02-14-2013 05:16 AM

how long does it take for the 1 deposit that comes immediately in the account?

i didnt get the 2 codes it said i will get the 1 deposit within minutes but cant see it?

i also put the head address of bank of ireland

NoneOther 02-14-2013 05:21 AM

Instant deposits are not actually instant, they can take a couple of hours to show up depending on how regularly the bank's systems update

Are BOI set up for faster payment transfers or not?

Batman 02-14-2013 05:32 AM

oh right because on there it said instant so i got kinda worried.

yep i just added it on a new stealth and its the faster type.

UPDATE: got the code will go and put that in now

eternity4u 02-19-2013 01:16 PM

there asking about post office savers...which there is mention above about withdraw to post office saver.

the question is answered above really.

unity006 03-04-2013 10:41 AM

When you say you have to remove and then re-add when you want to withdraw?

For what purpose is that? Why cant you just keep the saver account added?

because paypal will remove it and then your screwed as the bank account will go to waste.

NoneOther 03-04-2013 12:25 PM

p/p will only remove it IF and only IF the DD is rejected by the bank.

I've had various savers attached to p/p accounts for almost 2 years and never had any DD mandates rejected by any bank.

Choose your banks wisely

Batman 03-04-2013 12:30 PM

what does that mean if dd is rejected? i had the instant deposit come through
