Default uk ebay account abroad is this ok..

In a month or so im off on holiday for a couple of weeks to Egypt. Is it safe to log into my ebay account abroad from an internet cafe or similar at the hotel to reply to messages etc? Will this throw any flags up on my account? thanks

Well In general you should be ok, the big boss Paypal realises people go on holiday/travel. Especially if you are logging in from your own computer with cookies.

I live outside UK and operate my UK accounts with VPN and VPS, and I haven't tried logging in without for a long time, although as I understand they are getting more lenient, more digital nomads out there these days.

Worst case is probably that you may have to confirm your security details.

Maybe someone can chime in who has more experience in logging in from all over the place.

I logged into my PP acct in Cuba and it was blocked until I was able to fax them copies of my passport, driving licence and a recent bill

There are many 'red flag' countries that financial organisations don't like.

It can flag accounts.

Have you a store on ebay? You can put that on holiday & have no listings.

Make sure you taper off your business so little is left to make trouble.

When I went away in March, I told paypal I was going to be accessing my account from another location. They made a note. I had no issues.

Just make sure you are prepared before you go.

This is what I have done:

Have no listings for the week before 'closing'. Allows time for despatch etc.

With any items going out prior to the holiday I enclose a 'happy note' to let the buyers know the store is closed. ( Cover myself in other words).

Put store 'on holiday' but have the reopening for several days after the expected return.

Set but also test the auto message. This can malfunction.
When OK with everything, pack your sun screen lotion, take your money and send me a post code....
Enjoy the trip

eygpt would be one of them...

I agree with GB, close down sales during hols, or have a note regarding shipping times and lengthen them on dropdown menu.

very recently went on holiday in romania. gotta luv bucharest night life and the gals are gorgeous

was flying back to UK on sunday evening, so i logged in my main uk ebay on thursday evening and activated my listings to make some extra sales on friday and weekend, knowing i will post all of them on monday

i logged in from a friends laptop(new win user acc) some local cafe wifi ip..

had to verify security questions but was worth it for £400 sales or so..

so i think EU countries are OK enough to log into..

@bnd

It's Romanian men you need to watch.

Glad your account was OK, however.

How about using VPN? Are they safe to log in. I have a problem i am on holiday and my customer has sent an item for refund. I a scared to log in to give him a refund. I was using VPN to watch uk tv. Can i use to my eBay Stealth? What would be consequences ?

@sokol3k

Great risk. If that VPN had not been used on your stealth account, it will be treated as a strange IP.

You will then be suspended/limited until you prove your ID.

Usually paypal/ebay demand documents for this type of suspension.

Careful planing next holiday can avoid this.

The problem is that cheap VPNs used for the purpose of watching tv from overseas are.not.secure.

Which country are you in?

You could sign up for a VPS free trial to log in, the problem is that signing up for that from overseas ip will also be problematic, and they are likely to be able to see through your TV vpn

I am in Poland

I use VPN app from my iPad and i have paid for it. 1£ for 2gb of data valid for 30 days.

I use stealth ebay on my iPad and i have always been using my 3G data plan to log in.

How about if i log in here using 3G ? Or my local wifi ?

This customers is such a pain... Noob who does not read my emails and go through ebay resolution center to deal with it.

Any ideas? What would you do?

Edit; i need only log in once to give him a refund.

Logging in from Poland.could be seen as less.suspicious than logging in from an unsecure VPN

How about if just ignore this guy and let ebay to refund his order... Then its very likely that he will give me red feedback.. Assume its better then suspension..
