if you've sold something to someone that's in the US/Canada/Australia (it might even be all non-euro countries) then you get the money straight away. Or you could just be lucky and not get a 21 day hold.

as for the 3 day wait, it happens to us all.

I have been looking into the 21 hold thing, it looks like it all comes down to how you list your item. If you list fresh item you get 21 day hold on payment, if you list a item that's is already on eBay and list it by clicking on the item and click on sell this item the payment doesn't, get a 21 day hold.

The 21 days hold can happen to any account. There is no steadfast rule in how to avoid it. Keep customers happy, have high DSR and you are less likely to run into it, but it can happen to any account at any point.

I have been checking this for a while, and I am finding the same results everytime. Also on new accounts first item sold. But I am selling item around the £10 mark and in the same category, so not sure about other category, but give it a try and tell me how you get on.

as an addition to what i said, the first 3 or 4 sales on mine are all subject to the 21 day hold. i've just sold something to someone in the UK and it's an instant payment. not even going to bother trying to withdraw it though as i know it'll be a 3 day wait and it's simply not worth it.

Preferable to always leave some funds in paypal.

Good idea to leave a small balance.

Makes paypal happier too.

I am a fan of leaving 3-4x the average eB sale...not just the coverage of fees.

@OP, keep in mind that holds can be applied later on...never assume you are always 100% no-holds barred with your pp account
