Paypal email about direct debit

Hi all

I just recieved this email from paypal

Dear *** ***

We attempted to cancel our Direct Debit Instruction (DDI) from your bank account ending in ****.

The transaction was declined during our processing.

Therefore, to protect your account, access your online banking and cancel the DDI yourself. You can also call or visit your bank to do so manually.

We look forward to continuing to offer you the number one way to send and receive money online.

Why they want to cancel the direct debit i did not do anything like that?

Hawwy 05-24-2013 10:20 AM

Also its smile bank account, maybe i got wrong address down on paypal for direct debit instruction?

Freakzilla 05-24-2013 10:25 AM

Other people have had this happen this week. The other bank was Halifax.

Hawwy 05-24-2013 11:56 AM

Whats the way around it then?

Lex Luthor 05-24-2013 01:53 PM

Just had 2 of my stealth account DDs returned and cancelled.

But 2 of my other stealth PP DDs went through fine. They were all done with the same bank in the same manner?!?!

I have attempted to re-submit them in the hope that they will work. Fingers crossed.

GTB 05-24-2013 02:47 PM

which bank

were they all the same type of bank account

savers,current etc

Hawwy 05-24-2013 04:07 PM

Mines was a smile saver

GreenBean 05-25-2013 02:29 AM

Savers fail too often.

Hawwy 05-25-2013 03:57 AM

Why do they fail cos of names?

NoneOther 05-25-2013 04:33 AM

Mainly because they are not designed or intended to have DD mandates attached to them so they eventually the bank will reject the mandate.

NoneOther 05-25-2013 05:47 AM

Most UK banks are good with the exception of Lloyds which should be avoided.

Lex Luthor 05-25-2013 06:03 AM

These were with Natwest and they were all current accounts.

Hawwy 05-25-2013 08:35 AM

Wierd that my lloyds is okay

NoneOther 05-25-2013 09:37 AM

GreenBean 05-25-2013 10:10 AM

Hawwy 05-25-2013 03:23 PM

Got this when using a Halifax Online Saver account. I resubmitted the DD mandate and got the email again today that they failed to cancel it.

The bank is still ok to withdraw money from PayPal for now.

Hawwy 05-27-2013 03:25 PM

So even though mandate fails its still okay as you can still carry on withdrawing?

Jigsaw 05-27-2013 03:48 PM

Yeah.

The only thing you can't do is make payments with your bank account like transferring money, Instant Bank Transfer or eCheque which we wouldn't be using anyway.

Hawwy 05-28-2013 02:35 AM

So i was worrying for no reason lol

GreenBean 05-28-2013 03:10 AM

You were worrying for a sensible reason.

Your account got flagged because of this bank issue.

You now have to work out what to do to be able to operate smoothly.

Avoid thinking otherwise

:ranger:

Hawwy 05-28-2013 07:21 AM

so they flagged it so it will get blocked? shall i just link a different current account, or keep using for withdrawels as it is?

NoneOther 05-28-2013 01:11 PM

Any p/p account without a valid DD mandate attached is at HIGH risk.

p/p do not like that at all.

If I were you I would be looking to attach a proper bank account that will not have the dd mandate rejected i.e. not a saver.

BeriteBloggie 05-28-2013 02:46 PM

Has anyone got any recent experience with the CashPlus bank?

Does this bank accept the PayPal deposits in stealth names?

Okay will it be okay for a week till my bank details come through?

NoneOther 05-29-2013 02:13 AM

A week is not to long but with p/p as we are all aware you never know when they will take action against accounts.
