Default UK Phone advice required (MC999 related)

I'm just wondering how other UK stealthers are contacting eBay in the event of an MC999 issue.

Obviously eBay will expect to be called from the same phone number quoted during the account setup procedure and I doubt they like mobile numbers very much.

What is the best method of having what would appear to be an individual landline number for each stealth account?

put 141 before the ebay phone number then it won't show them the number that's calling. lots of people withhold their phone number so it wouldn't be suspicious in the slightest.

Make sure that is not on the toll free number, of course.

PP and EB are nothing special. If you specify that you want your number withheld then they won't be able to see it. Still, if they do want to be ultra-safe, then the OP can stick to using the 0208 number for both EB and PP.

You cant block your number from a toll-free service - you can use other ways like a spoof service or skype to call. The 0208 ...you can block your number but long distance charges may apply if you dont have the long-distance plan

Maybe not where you live, but in the UK you can.

They're in the UK, so it doesn't really apply.

Learn something everyday - thanks derbydave...thought it was international that you cant block - i mean you CAN block but tollfree number will always show origin number of caller.

141 does not always work from mobiles particularly smart phones. I would strongly advise that you check to see if the number is being witheld before you call EB/PP. Most smartphones do not support 141, as you can only block caller ID from the settings.

Mobile phone users will have AND do have issues with blocking numbers

Not as cut and dried as you state.

well 141 worked on my SGS1 (on Orange/EE) and it definitely works on my SGS2 (on 02).

apparently dialing #31# before the phone number on a mobile does the same thing.
