Hello Everyone

Is it possible to create a stealth account on Ebay UK and list a few items with an unverified Paypal attached?

The reason I ask this, is that I wanted to test the waters so to speak and make sure that everything is functioning before I add a bank account to Paypal.

Not the best recommendation since eBay UK wants the verified pp to list.

Testing is up to you - few posts around have suggested that it is doable but, again, at your own discretion - not the recommendation.

It is possible but I would not do it, it is a huge risk.

Doable but not recommended. There is a risk of getting a Verify Identity request or a MC999.

You can do it, but it has much more risk.

Tesing waters is fine.

But failing the test is not.

Preferable to have an account running as smoothly as possible without being flagged.

Selling, and being unverified will have the opposite effect.

New Ebay account hit with MC142 - Do not understand why?
 

Hi Everyone

A little while back, about a month or so ago, I setup both a Paypal and Ebay account at the same time.

Everything seemed to go fine (even verified the Paypal using a UK bank account, never used before). However two days later the Ebay account was hit with an MC142 notice asking to supply them with docs (ID, credit card statement etc). Meanwhile the Paypal account seems to be functioning fine.

The only trigger I can think of, is the use of an Entropay VCC, has anyone experienced difficulties between Entropay VCC and Ebay UK?

For the record the Entropay VCC had funding of £10, more than enough for both Paypal and Ebay verification.

I dont use entropay on ebay.

I attach paypal to ebay. That paypal has an entropay vcc attached to it.

Explain what you did especially the entropay part.

Haha Greenie you've got me thinking now as to whether I actually used that Entropay card on the Ebay account or not.

I definitely remember attaching the Paypal account (after it was verified) to the Ebay account.

From memory don't you need to use a VCC upon Ebay UK signup?

How quickly did you stsrt selling after creation of the account? Was it a risky item? Also important to note.

If you use paypal & attach that to ebay that takes care of the vcc.

I make other arrangements for fees.

Yup it was *special* haha.

My major concern is that I have just the one (fresh) bank account left to use with Paypal.

Is it possible to add an unverified Paypal to Ebay UK?

Only I'm thinking the way forward could be to create a new Paypal and Ebay account (using all new information), do a little browsing and leave the account for a few days (to make sure it doesn't get hit with an MC142) and then verify the Paypal with UK bank account, is this a plan or...?

Using an unverified paypal is only going to leave you more at risk of an MC142.

Unfortunately, these Verify Identity requests are becoming more common on new UK accounts. They tend to occur within 24 hours of putting on a first listing.

Thing is I never actually posted an item for sale using the account.

It was just hit with an MC142 a couple of days later without buying or selling.

Could I have perhaps made a mistake by not browsing first and just logging out and leaving the account dormant?

Preferable to have some browsing history, bidding on items you could not hope to win.

The address is more likely what tipped the suspension...

If it's the address Greenie, that makes stealth account creation a lot more difficult as you would need to purchase a mail box/address yes?

I posted above about what has been tried by people - I do suggest experimentation a lot when a solid answer is not well known - have to get in there and get your hands dirty.

This does not apply so much in this case.

Comes down to the business plan....

Quickest way I can explain is this....

A ebay account would have access to an address so a stealth account needs that even more.

Have as much as possible to 'appear' normal.

That does, and can, mean hiring an address.
