| | | ebay*merchant | 11-08-2013 09:13 AM | Bank account / applying online I want to open a basic bank account online without having to go into a branch, which bank allows this or is there an online bank which is stealth friendly? |
| natbabes | 11-08-2013 09:18 AM | Re: Bank account / applying online I use Co-op, i have applied online a couple of times with this bank :)
Works fine with stealth as well! |

Smile is owned by Co-Op |

| ebay*merchant | 11-08-2013 10:03 AM | Re: Bank account / applying online I have just checked the smile website & the account comes with a £500 overdraft facility, I am looking for a basic account that will pass a credit search. |
Re: Bank account / applying online nah natwerst wont work applied online 3-4 days recived a letter they told me visit the branch for interview |
| JamesNorth101 | 11-09-2013 03:48 PM | Re: Bank account / applying online Is there a reason that you dont want to go into the branch itself? Should just be a formality. |
| NoneOther | 11-11-2013 11:34 AM | Re: Bank account / applying online Most of the banks will now only open accounts online if you are an existing customer, otherwise they ask you to visit the branch with ID and address verification documents.
There may still be one or two exceptions to this but they are becoming extremely rare. |

I've had success with instant account openings with Halifax and Barclays recently. |

Did you already have a natwest account applying?
I've not tried if but I personally think that if you already have an account with them that you opened at the branch there shouldn't be an issue |

It does ask if you are already a customer of theirs and to put your card and account number details in but also gives you the option of applying without this if you don't have your card handy. I applied without adding the details.
I used the card from my Barclays account and my passport. I assume the card is used to verify address and passport for I.D.
Worked for me and I'll try again some time in the new year for another. |

The debit card arrived this morning 4 days after opening the account online. Waiting for the PIN but I have signed up for online banking and activated the card there. I have also opened a savings account with them too and have the account/sort code for that too.
Very easy and straightforward to do. |

I imagine without these they will decline an application and ask for you to visit the branch. |

Wrong country :) | The first time I applied for an account with Barclays I was turned down because my photo driving licence had expired. I went back with my passport and it was accepted. |
