If a hold then send the goods and upload the tracking
you can always refund the buyer if an issue then occurs on your paypal account
see what happens over 48 hours after payment |

All that will get is the buyer getting annoyed, possibly opening a case which will increase the chances of the EB or PP becoming limited. |

| JamesNorth101 | 02-24-2014 11:45 AM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? If you choose that option then yes.
That is not to allow sellers to see if they decide to send the goods or not.
If it gets sold and paid for, then it should be sent. In the case of an item of this value, it should be sent with a signature on delivery required. |
| a.v.limited | 02-24-2014 11:46 AM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? did you say how long delivery would take ? |
| Callidus | 02-24-2014 12:26 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? This is being made out to be 10 times harder than it needs to be. Sent the goods the minute it is sold, provide tracking to eBay / PayPal - that is standard, doesn't need to be turned into a debate. |
| amysworld | 02-25-2014 10:59 AM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? Update!!!
1 item has sold for £12 - payment received and its been placed on 21 day hold in PayPal until the middle of March!!!
I think because its the first ever payment that has come into the account - thats why the 21 day hold is in place as its only £12 - but paypal want to check and see if its a legitimate account.
At least the paypal account has not been limited.
Looks like I will need docs...to upload to paypal and remove the £1900 limit as well - will this stop the 21 day hold?!?
Am I o.k in listing some cheap books on ebay now without it red flagging up?
I am keeping all the payments in paypal even after the 21 day hold and let it build up so paypal will see that the account is being used for 'buying and selling' ;-)
So when I do come to withdraw some money hopefully it should go through o.k
Did you mean savers account? Quote:

Continue with the listing, play it out and see what happens. I would strongly advise to ship the same day and upload tracking to eBay & PayPal so they know it has been sent. Once the holds on the funds come off DO NOT withdraw within 7 days at least. Seeing as this is your first sale, if you do try and withdraw a lot of the amount I can see problems, potentially a limitation.
| Callidus | 02-25-2014 11:05 AM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? Glad the item sold. £12 is OK for a first payment, my items sell for slightly more and they are on accounts 30 days old with no selling / buying history.
21 day holds - middle of March would work out right, as it says, it is a 21 day hold. Once you have sent the item, upload tracking to PayPal and/or eBay (cant remember which one you add to and it automatically adds to the other one).
You will need docs eventually, some people prefer to do it before they sell so they don't get stopped from selling when they hit the £1900 mark.
Be careful with books, any type of media can be risky when listing from the outset. I would probably advise to list the books as Auction style rather than BIN.
No, I wasn't referring to savers, any accounts. I would use basic cash accounts if I were you. |
| amysworld | 02-25-2014 11:16 AM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? I'm happy the item sold for £12...its a start at least :)
I just now added the tracking number to Ebay and PayPal.
The message on PayPal is "Based on your history as an eBay seller, we may temporarily hold the money from each of your eBay transactions in a pending balance. We may hold this money for up to 21 days from the date we let you know it is "OK to send" the relevant item. Other restrictions may apply. Learn more"
After adding the tracking number PayPal is now saying my funds will be released 2nd week of March (so after you add the tracking number - its not a 21 day hold exactly)
hmmmm...I would have thought books would be less risky to list as its not a branded item so to speak.
How about listing some very cheap unbranded makeup for a few quid - wise choice? Quote:

| amysworld | 02-25-2014 12:01 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? Thanks for the link above JamesNorth101...I just read it and noticed if you print the tracking label from ebay then the funds are only held for 3 days. I did not realise and just wrote the address by hand and posted it.
A little concerned re: the camera thats still on - thinking of taking it away from the auction (no bidders yet) because if it did get sold the payment will be on hold BUT I will still have to send the item out and the buyer could try to scam me in the mean time saying item missing/not as described....etc
Shall I end the camera listing and add some cheaper items on there like a book or unbranded makeup?
Just don't want the paypal account being limited! Quote:

If it wasnt as described they have to return it to get a refund. |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-25-2014 12:20 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? If it sells, send it out.
Scamming does happen yes, but as an over % of transactions it is fairly rare.
Make sure you get a signature on delivery.
If the buyer has an issue they will have to return it. |
| amysworld | 02-25-2014 12:51 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? After seeing the £12 get limited...i'm concerned that getting £280 on my second sale (should it sell) could perhaps limit the paypal account.
I'm in 2 minds now on what do you my main concern is not to have the account limited should the camera sell Quote:

Well you made the decision about listing the camera so just go with it and see what happens - all the best.

majorly different |
| JamesNorth101 | 02-25-2014 12:53 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? Your £12 has not be limited. It is just on hold. Just like any payment to a new account.
Massive difference.
If you are not comfortable with it, then cancel the auction. |
| amysworld | 02-25-2014 12:53 PM | Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay? In the sense they could say item was damaged or not as decribed then out a claim in with paypal send an empty package to me with tracking and then they get a refund and get to keep the item - it happened to me in the past on my old account Quote:

If the item sells, it needs to be posted. Do you diligence, check their buyer feedback ect.
You cannot worry you will get scammed each time, if you do then eBay is not the place to be selling your things. |
