Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

I have a stealth ebay and paypal account which is just over 1 year old - (with zero seller feedback)

I have built a 'browsing history and asking questions' history on Ebay and behaved like a newbie.

This week I bought two items on ebay (postal supplies) so I have feedback of 2 so far.

Should I now go ahead and list 1 item on Ebay?

I am using entropay linked to paypal to pay for the items I am buying on Ebay and will also use the entropay card to pay for the seller fees.

The entropay card is topped up with £50 credit (to buy postal supplies and to pay seller fees)

I am using tmobile usb which gives a different IP each time - but its slow when you log into ebay and sometimes the signal drops.

I was thinking of maybe using Auctvia instead - what do you suggest?

Yes, thats fine. I usually list after 30 days on accounts with no selling history or buying history

Oh dear I have waited nearly 1 year!!!

Do you suggest using ebays own lister or using auctvia instead?

surprised you have waited so long, unless you have other accounts running as well.

Don't wait any longer, list list and be merry

You can still get repeating IP addresses, so you will still need to keep track of your IP address.

you can use t mobile or three. I think three may be a little cheaper

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

I thought the longer have let the account age the less chance ebay or paypal would ask questions...i've waited far enough.

I am going to list a camera - do you think it will red flag?!? it will sell for over £300.

Having only feedback of 2 (buying postal supplies) a little concerned the large payment when it drops into my paypal could raise a red flag?!?

BUT

The account is about 1 year old and aged

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

i'm on contract with tmobile..but if i go and use auctvia then the IP issue is not a problem because Ebay don't see your IP when you list through Auctvia.

Ebay only see your IP when you "link" your auctvia to your ebay

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

Update...I listed 2 items for sale today and both items show up under "selling" when I am logged into ebay and click on "my ebay" BUT when i'm logged out and click on "search for seller" - all that comes up is my ebay username and zero items for sale?

normally the items once listed for sale should show up

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

Can take up to 24-48 hours for it to show up....known glitch on eb.co.uk - it is listed, just waiting to show up as live

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

that's a relief i was worried ebay had taken them off... ebay is different to when i used it last nearly 3 years go!

Still be careful even though it is a year old treat it as a new account, since it was not used for a year, sudden activity will cause suspicion of a hacked account

Your first item may have been little too high priced but hopefully it works out, go slow, good luck

Account only has physical age. Little else to say it is reliable.

That item might be too high as part of the first listings.

Be very careful here.

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

Greenie is spot on the accounts physical age is 1 year.

2 days ago I bought some postal supplies and now have feedback of 2.

I then listed an item for 0.99p

Then a second item a sony camera starting price £280

I am not going to list anymore items until I see what happens to these items if they sell or not.

I know I have only buyer feedback so thats why i started 1 item at 0.99p to get interest and get seller feedback.

Do you think it was wise listing the camera at that high price?

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

It was not wise, but you have done it now.

I'm sure you won't experience any problems but on other stealths perhaps list cheaper items first to get a selling history.

You may also find paypal hold your funds for 21 dayys.

amysworld 02-24-2014 04:48 AM

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

There is nothing I can do apart from ending the listing if it does not have any bidders on it so far...i only listed it because my sister was on my case wanting to sell it and made a big fuss that i wasn't help her to sell it on ebay.

my concern is that if the camera sells the funds will be placed on hold for 21 days - that i can live with BUT i suspect the paypal account will RED FLAG as there has never been any money come into the paypal account (not sold anything so far)

So PayPal will probably ask for docs I think!

hmmmm should have waited and sold cheaper items to start with instead of putting a 0.99p item and a £280 camera on!

I will update on this thread as to what happens

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

You account may be 1 year old, but it is still a brand new sellers account as far as ebay is concerned. No need to wait for any more than 4 weeks to start listing.

You should really have started off with much cheaper unbranded items.

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

True re: starting off with much cheaper unbranded items...but the camera is listed now, there is nothing i can do apart from cancelling the item but that might raise a red flag

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

Well you made the decision about listing the camera so just go with it and see what happens - all the best.

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

i would just continue with the listing now

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

Continue with the listing, play it out and see what happens. I would strongly advise to ship the same day and upload tracking to eBay & PayPal so they know it has been sent. Once the holds on the funds come off DO NOT withdraw within 7 days at least. Seeing as this is your first sale, if you do try and withdraw a lot of the amount I can see problems, potentially a limitation.

Re: Can I go ahead and sell on Ebay?

I am going to keep the listing live and see what happens, should the camera sells I am sending it out the same day special delivery add tracking to paypal.

I would suspect having the paypal funds to deffo be placed on hold and maybe even a limitation as well.

As for the funds after the hold comes off I plan on leaving the money in paypal for a few weeks by that time I should have sold more items so paypal can see I am adding tracking numbers to payments received.

I have just checked my listing - no bids so far (expected as no seller feedback...just buyer feedback) so buyers will be cautious of buying.

I have put my username which is visable in the pictures on a paper with the items I have on sale - to make it look I am new to the game ;-) i

Would you say its wise to maybe add something very cheap just to "shift" and get it sold asap in order to get seller feedback?
