Default Selling limits and the knock on effects

Ebay must realise the effect it is having on BIG businesses by having selling limits. It is not possible for businesses to work with ebay having limits to accounts, and the amount people can sell. The MARKET will become over produced, with goods that can not be shifted . The knock on effect goes directly to the source , who will have stock they can not move, because the people at the bottom of the chain are unwilling to take the risk of buying in bulk in fear of not being able to even list the items for sale. The big companies cant afford to hold stock , so how is the little guy supposed to ? Even the wholesaler who picks up the items is facing a quandary now. I am sure they have seen a drop not only in sales, but in the volume of sales. for example they could still be making 500 sales , or he whatever it is, however they are just not hitting the target volumes to satisfy doing what they are doing.

I am sure businesses are aware of how heavily they rely upon EBAY whether they are directly involved with EBAY or not.

More importantly I hope there are lots of wholesalers out there who are making a noise and raising concerns as to the practice and approach EBAY has adopted at the moment. I can not see it lasting, as there will be millions and millions of pounds worth of surplus stock going to waste , year on year.

At the moment , although I have a certain amount of listings, I am unable to restock sold out items, even after this month is over I will be unable to restock my goods.

This is absurd, how is a business to function if it is not able to do any business ? Yes this is partly a rant, however within it I think there is some truth about what I am talking about.

It is not sustainable , and I wonder how long it will take before they are at it again, changing their selling practices.

Ebay have messed around with things too much, and now they are getting to the point where they do not even know what they are doing.

what do you think?

I think their limit raises are better than ever right now. I had one account have 3 increases over 6 weeks from 100 ending in 640. Another over the same time has gone 100 - 440.

I think you have thought too much about it.

Ebay do it to protect themselves. it stops scammers listing hundreds of expensive items then running with the money. It also stops legitimate businesses from growing too quickly and not being able to cope.

You can always ring ebay up to ask for limit increases, but that carries its own dangers.

Big companies do not have a selling limit

I had an ebay account - (Had it since 2004) with no selling limit

At one stage I was doing £74K a month in sales (2.5K a day)

I am thinking the same applies to big companies

You probably got your selling raised just before the Christmas time problems start hitting Kiroshi by the sound of it, well done you!

Crikey Dini, what sort of areas were you selling in to get 2.5k a day in sales?

If you convert your ebay account to a business account. Your account will be reviewed every 30 days for limit increases.

This now has to be the worst business set up in the history of man kind. Ebay playing god with your life and your business , how can they drop your limits just because you had a bad month? At some point it was ok, the items you had listed stayed listed, even if your limit was lower than your inventory. Now my listings are not even getting relisted.

What a farce and a joke they have become, how is anyone supposed to run a business with those constraints? Is ok if you are turning 1500 items a day, and get 5% negatives, it doesnt effect you, I dont even have any negatives, just under performing in my transaction defect rate. Which is not a true reflection either, specially when you have left feedback for 100% of your customers, yet you have only received 30% in return , so the defect is not a true reflection anyway.

Really need to sort my amazon account and head over there, ebay is killing me on this account, which two months ago had 4000 and 60000 limit, what if i had bought a warehouse?
