second broadband router and phone line

Contemplating on getting a 2nd line installed and wondering if possible at home address.
2nd line would have static ip and new phone number to attach to one ebay only (real person, incase of personal record checks).. One laptop only, no other user accounts.

My current one is dynamic will use solely for stealths with a dongle also.
It may sound ridiculous to some or wasted expense but being wiped out on years of hard work on stealths does give you the jitters. Precaution as there is no cure.

More than possible.

Back in the day you needed to get BT to come out to fit the second line, but other companies may be able to do that now (although I doubt it)

If your house has fibre optics that may be another route to look at.

Yes i have fibre optic, I believe that to be a nuisance a when I check ip each time in iplocation it give me a postcode which is very nearby.
Freaks me out.

I wouldn't worry about the Geolocation too much.

In your case there would be no need to get a second line installed.

You can have 1 ISP via your phone line and 1 ISP via your fiber options :)

You could also look into satellite broadband providers if you wanted a third :thumb:

Of course it is possible. Our family has done that more than once over the years.

We started with BT. But there are other offers around that could work for you. Be careful of the charges BT might make.

Look at a site called choose net
Choose | Price comparison | Making choice easier

It's a consumer site that has lots of info on deals.

Good Luck.

I am with BT on fibre optic for almost 2 years. We only tend to analysis when things go wrong and this geolocation is making me paranoid.
For instance when I log into account A geolocation is my postcode, thereafter lets say spent 10 minutes in account A, and then change ip, user account and log into account B, I get the same geolocation and my postcode again!! Accounts A and B would be selling same items. Hence paranoia.
Now the techincal side not that I know much on this subject, I have a seperate bt box for my landline phone and for the internet, a seperate socket box is installed upstairs.
Last year at one point we had techincal issues with the line at exchange with fibre optics and I did try to revert the line with adsl, router to the landline socket but it didnt work.
So i think they have that one figured, that once you have fibre optics on seperate line, the other landline socket wont work for internet.
On the plus side of having a 2nd line I dont have to switch the kids off midway whilst gaming. Many times sit there like a pillak and wait for hours and feel bad doing that to them (their mates think I work in secret service for it going on and off constant)
