Paypal limited!
 

My Paypal limited today, they want to confirm my location which seems to involve my telephone number which is a mobile number. now i know i can get text messages on this phone but i am unsure if someone can still telephone me?

Anyway when i click "Resolve" to confirm it i then get taken to a new page with another button to click called "Confirm Location". What will happen when i press this button i.e. what happen next?

Further down the page It says:

f you'd prefer, there are alternative ways to provide information
Photo ID
Provide Proof of Address

Would it be wiser to provide one of the above?
Or should i just go with the telephone number option (if possible!).

I ask because i suspect after resolving the location using the telephone number option they will ask for further proof anyway!

You need an area specific landline and AVS vcc to resolve the confirm location limitation. Better to go down this route as the account can usually be restored by completing a few automated steps versus submitting docs.

Or you can try getting the 3v voucher from a Paypoint machine you just need to tell the staff where it is on the machine, otherwise almost ALL staff in every shop will say they do not have it.

You have to register these prepaid cards in your STEALTH details that are on the paypal account and not your real details, so that the address etc.. can match,

So I can add a landline telephone number to my limited paypal account?
All details except tel number are in my mothers details so I can add it?
In what way does the automated steps work? Does Paypal ring the landline number and give me a pin number?
Also how does the VCC card come into it?
I have a CO-OP visa debit card which is registered to MY address not my mothers. This is registered on paypal. What on this card reveals to Paypal the post code/ that the address is different to the telephone number?

You do need a landline number so you can get one from soho66.co.uk and get it in the area your account is registered in.

The vcc address has to match the registered address on PayPal for the confirm location to work.
Click the steps to start the process and you will see... This is what you do instead of supplying documents.

So if you have a vcc on PayPal does it say (confirmed) next to the vcc card details?

I ONLY have a CO-OP card attached to the paypal account which is confirmed. This card is registered with my real address.
My Paypal registered address is different - its my mothers address.
The card registered is not a vcc.

My mothers postcode and mine - the first part are the same (say BX21) if that helps!

You need to add a NEW one with all your details for the avs.

Thanks I'll try and do this. I will use Entropay as it is on-line and seems most convenient for me.
Can I leave the Co-op card on paypal? Or should i remove it?

One more question. I've looked at soh66 and i can choose a number in my area.

However - my mother has a payPal account (for buying only) and paypal might have her telephone number on record. If I use a soho number this will mean there are two landline numbers for her address. Will this raise alarm bells for paypal or are they used to people having more than one landline telephone numbers?
I know this all getting a little complicated for which I apologise.

no you cannot use entropay it is not an AVS vcc and will not work.

Soho66 will be fine as there is no way for paypal to see where it is registered, as long as it is not a shared number with another account it will be fine.

I'll be in town later and hopefully my local tesco will have the visa gift cards. If not I'll try the 3v voucher from PayPoint.
Do any other shops/companies sell visa gift cards that I can buy over the counter if i am unable to purchase the above?
For example W.H. Smith?
Morrisons?
Wilkinsons?

Quick question re: Soho66. When choosing number is it only the area code the first five numbers that need to be correct eg 01234 322555 I would choose (on soho66) 01234.

There is a drop down box option which allows you to choose city/region.
The area code should be the same as the area code of the address.

Yes i can choose the correct area code - the first five numbers - so as long as these match
I can choose any set of numbers for the second part of the telephone number?

When I click on Verify location on Paypal it asks for credit card details as well as the 4 pin code on back of card.
Do the via gift cards have this code?

When you get a prepaid card. It will be a scratch section which is a activation code. You then go to the website that they state on the visa and you register in your stealth details and use the activation code.

Once registered it will give you all the details you would normally get on a bank card. Back and front.

There are 3 digits on the back of the card not 4. Never heard of there ever being 4 on any card.

You MUST register the details on the prepaid card in the same details you have on your registered paypal account.

I could'nt find a visa gift card anywhere it town, all the shops only had (non-visa) gift cards for selling in their own shops.
I'm going to get a 3v voucher today from Co-Op which apparently have a two month expiry. Does this mean i will have to buy a 3v voucher every two months and add it to Paypal so i don't get limited again?
OR
Is there anywhere online I can purchase visa gift card?

no you dont have to buy one every 2 months, you can leave your existing card you have on the account with the longer expiry, this card is only to pass your AVS check.

You can even use entropay in the future for 1 year expiry dates.

When you go to the paypoint machine dont forget to tell the retailer where it is on the machine, as most shops do not know it exists.

The retailer will find the voucher under 'Cash Vouchers & e-Money' on the terminal.

A pain in the arse this is! It' like Paypal don't want customers. I've been registered with them for five years. I sell second hand items on ebay. I had two cards registered with them for all that time but one expired about two months ago. Is this the cause of all this nonsense?

Nothing! I suddenly got a limited due to "suspicious activity" on my Paypal account. I can find no evidence of suspicious activity.
I had to change my passwords and choose two new security questions. I also have to confirm my location. Clicking on confirm location the next page asks for a card to be added.

so as instructed above, buy a VISA Gift card from the shops that Bunneh mentioned, visit gospendit.co.uk and register it in your stealth details and add the card :)

The money on it you can use to pay eBay fees.

No-one locally sell visa gift cards. I have to buy a 3v voucher.
And no-one sells them visa gift cards online in the u.k.

I managed to find a visa gift card.
Paypal claims it wants my telephone number to confirm location , I click on verify and it asks for a visa card number. i give this and choose "use this address as billing address". the address i currently use for paypal.

So this method has not worked for me.
paypal has basically asked me to - and allowed me to - change my password and security questions bit won't let me confirm my location.
Has anyone else had his problem. Does this mean I have to send in DL or Proof of address letter?

Sounds like you've left it too long or they were going to limit you anyway....sounds like a right mess.

Proof of address and ID will be needed by the sounds of it, check the resolution centre and report back. What has it asked for?

I was limited on Monday - I found out Monday night at 6pm.

This is the message so odd that it then asks for credit card to be added.

What can't I do while my account is limited?

send money
withdraw money from your account
close your account
add money to your account
link or remove a card
link or remove a bank account
send refunds

If your account is now limited you will have to check the resolution centre to see what they are asking for now.

I tells me I cannot add a card.

Yet the message on first page asks for a card to be added.

At present I have a bank account added but not a credit card as it expired in January.

Never said there were 4 on the back of the card, I said 'there are 4 on an AMEX card' - never said where.

AMEX is 4 on the front, correct. You knew that anyway but I am sure you posted just to improve your post count :)

What are the steps in the resolution centre?
Not the steps to confirm location.. are there any other doc requests besides this?

Seems like you where both post count hunting.

I read it as four on the back, and GB just does is usual nonsense.
