Default Has anyone launched a standalone ecommerce site on the back of their ebay success

Guys, I am looking to start an ecommerce site outside of ebay. It will be a sort of a discount store and I will be sending out nearly 700 printed postcards to invite everyone who has bought something from me on ebay before. I will be offering them free delivery on their first order as well as a year X% commission whenever someone sign upto my site using their referral fee.

I want to know if anyone has tried this approach before and how successful was the venture.

While I have been in the Voucher code business before, Infact, I still own one such site here in the UK which have been operational for many years. I think depending on google for success is no longer the way to go so, for my ecommerce site, google traffic would generally be a plus but I dont want to make it my primary source of traffic. My traffic will be exclusively via advertising, referral, social media as well as through a popular facebook group which I am planning to aquired from its previous owner at a price.

I just want to hear all of your input on this, or does anyone think its purely a waste of energy to go outside of ebay?

There is a handfull of members on this forum who farm buyers from amazon and ebay.

Look at six figure boss and the marketing section.

Lots of better ways of getting buyers off ebay instantly without a sale and if you have notch and hit items, dozens of them from a single listing compared to mailers.

wish you luck!
GOOD idea of getting off ebay seeing as they are getting shut down by the FBI soon.

Only 700 printed cards? Maybe look at also getting local advertising since you're a brick and mortar business as well
