| | | | | bigdaz | 09-12-2015 04:58 AM | New defects measures in 2016 Looks like accounts should technically be safer with new defects being introduced with them only being linked to disputes not being resolved and seller cancellations
Could be worrying though that buyers can now claim item didnt arrive on time and this will be marked against you
Thoughts?
From 20 February 2016, the following will no longer count towards your defect rate:
Buyer Feedback.
Detailed seller ratings (DSRs).
Returns requests that are successfully resolved with your buyer.
Items not received requests that are successfully resolved with your buyer.
Instead, we will use only the following existing criteria to determine your defect rate:
Seller-cancelled transactions.
Cases that are closed without seller resolution.
Here is a detailed view of the updated defect rate, effective from 20 February 2016:
All sellers eBay Top-rated sellers
Maximum percentage of transactions with defects 2% 0.5%
Maximum number of unique buyers affected before seller status is impacted 8 3
Maximum percentage or number of cases closed by eBay without seller resolution 0.3% |
| wired | 09-12-2015 08:46 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Its a way to claw back profits due to the TRS being moved from 2% to 0.5%,which is barely attainable in 3bay Britain.
I havent analysed it fully yet but there are some great threads on the eBay Business Seller Community Forum.
Basically its take from one hand, give to another, and it will actually be equal or worse than they are now from the general consensus on there. |

| slokor | 09-12-2015 03:03 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 I believe the majority of sellers will be happy with this new method of calculating defects. I know I am.
A lot easier to maintain accounts in good standing now - and a lot more logical to do things this way instead of counting as a defect even those disputes that were resolved properly (never understood the rationale behind that one). |
| muzzie | 09-12-2015 04:11 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 I've looked at all my cases, and 100% of them were solved the way the buyer was fully satisfied (refund / replace). So, I will have 0% defect rate? Seems too easy. |
| slokor | 09-12-2015 04:47 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Thats exactly what that means.
Gotta love it. |
| taerese | 09-12-2015 05:21 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Good news this is. With respect to items didn't arrive on time, the solution is to ship within the specified time you mentioned in the listing and provide tracking to support that it was shipped at the right time then you will be as good as contesting any defect resulting from item didn't arrive on time.
If this is what I am thinking, then you should be able to do proper business on ebay without fear of getting kicked from questionable system of measuring defect
Fingers crossed |
| wired | 09-12-2015 05:53 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 low budget sellers who cant ship with tracking due to cost, are toast with the new tracking only policy. |
| taerese | 09-12-2015 06:06 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Good news for high end sellers in electrical category who tends to have lot of return request and bad feedbacks that are largely due to buyers Ignorance. and good news still for items not working or for part sellers.
Essentially every new account from November have higher chances of test of time if maintained properly |
| bigdaz | 10-01-2015 12:34 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 surely everyone will become a top rated seller you just need to refund any buyer who opens a case or provide tracking? |
| muzzie | 10-01-2015 01:20 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Top-Rated now will be everywhere. So what's the point of giving it away to everyone? |
| bigdaz | 10-03-2015 11:29 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 can someone clarify the tracking issue here, i do not send my items with tracking as they are low value high volume items, i dont want to be forced to do tracking otherwise its just bloody pointless |
| slokor | 10-03-2015 01:25 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 I dont believe youre forced to upload tracking.
But they prefer it if you do.
if you never get any complaints doing things the way you are right now you shouldn't have any issues. |

| isitworththestress | 11-05-2015 06:04 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Depends on how the delivery date is calculated and if it is to do with shipping delays or posting delays on the sellers end.
If it is the shipping delays then it means I would have to stop selling a lot earlier over the Christmas period when delays are out of our hands.
Another thing may be to state second class postage on your listing and then post first class.
Just watched that video on the ebay page and I deliver same day next day and always use tracking so I am sweet. |
| Kiroshi | 11-10-2015 02:42 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 Sucks for me. Most of my items are low cost sent royal mail and it is not financially viable in any way to send tracked. |
| luverlyjuberly | 11-10-2015 05:42 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 I'm pretty pissed off - i sometimes miss the last post so this means that buyers often get a parcel the day after the eBay quote (Thursday instead of Wednesday for example). Looking at my feedback my buyers have absolutely no problem with this but eBay will. |

If your not shooting for top rated it's better to advertise extended handling standard shipping and than just ship your normal way and the item will arrive ahead of schedule |
| luverlyjuberly | 11-10-2015 07:07 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 I'm shooting for top rated seller. I'm not going to worry about it until the new system starts - eBay claims late arrivals need to be 9% before they contact seller. There are two days a week when I can't post during the day due to work commitments, I'll send first class on those days. |
| dan_ebay | 11-10-2015 07:45 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 trash for anyone without tracked delivery (e.g most of the uk) my defect ratings on my biggest 3 accounts were 2-3%, the postage defect rates on new ratings show 6-10% |
| Kiroshi | 11-10-2015 10:55 AM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 And what do they mean by 'contact seller'? As in TRS loss or worse than that? Seller privileges revoked?? |
| luverlyjuberly | 11-10-2015 04:24 PM | Re: New defects measures in 2016 If you go to your seller dashboard an example of the new report comes up
Read down and you will see this
Late delivery rate
If you post on time and upload a validated tracking number, or your buyers tell us their items were posted on time when they leave Feedback, you're all set.
Otherwise, if the tracking details or your buyers indicate that more than 9.00% of your transactions were dispatched late, we may follow up with you about the handling time you offer in your listings.
When there's no tracking information available and no response from the buyer, the transaction won't be counted.
What "following up" will involve i have no idea?
Anyone?
Its eBay bollocks where eBay tells the buyer when their parcel will arrive. it really pisses a lot of sellers off. Now when you leave feedback it asks the buyer if it arrived by a certain date. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:18 PM. | |
