Default Anybody Amazon DS'ing and got stung?

Alright people

I plan on launching my eBay / Dropship from Amazon in the next week or so and have some queries.

A guy replied to my introduction post and said some people have been "undone" by doing this?

I'm assuming he means limited way down etc. or maybe there are more sever consequences?

Whats the deal. I know it's legal but what other kinds of issues can you have?

I am starting with my personal account but if it shows signs of working I will be setting up a holding company and subsidiaries for trading.

I'm reaching out to find some people that have experience with this. Anybody willing to share?

Thanks folks.

In my experience:::: Dropshipping from anywhere on Ebay with new accounts will cause a problem.
People on the forum say it doesnt matter but ON MY ACCOUNTS, Ive noticed they get restricted when MOST of my shipping labels have different drop off locations other than where I live. Ebay asks for ID, receipt of where I get all my stuff.
On the accounts where I ship solely from my area, I have no problems.

I have ways around that now but like I said,, in my experience, NEW ACCOUNTS drop shipping dontlast

I've never had a problem having my tracking number being updated in different states than the shipping address.

Biggest issue you will have is the fact amazon are using local couriers under the "amazon logistics" brand.

You can't track the parcels anywhere apart from in your amazon account.

That means you can't add tracking to ebay or paypal.

That is the biggest, newest problem.

If you can't put a tracking number in you will be an easy target for people who will claim the item did not arrive even if it did. You will not be able to prove it and will lose the case and have to refund. At least that would be a concern to me if it were my venture...

Sounds impressive but totally unnecessary.

You'll need to be totally on the ball with monitoring prices and stock availability or you'll come "undone".

You will run into feedback problems due to the Amazon packaging. While I don’t personally see any problem with arbitrage (indeed that’s how I started) some of your customers will and they will be extremely vocal about it in your feedback. Not only will they complain at being cheated you will also find some people are simply angry because they don’t like Amazon. Your feedback will be wrecked, I have seen it many times.

When Ebay catch wind that you are dropshipping (and they will because moaning customers will tell them) they will then start asking for invoices. Both Amazon and Ebay do not like dropshipping from other retail sites.

You will also have a problem with returns (how big really depends on what you are selling) but any non-resalable goods that you intend on returning to Amazon are of course recorded. Too many returns and they will simply close your buying account.

In my opinion and experience it’s a very short lived model. Ebay to Amazon has slightly more longevity but really I reckon this should only be used to test the water before securing items wholesale.

Cool, thanks folks.

Yea it's a bit of fun anyway. I'm not planning on it being my main source of income anyway.

I understand this issues with feedback anyway. I think I will include some terms and conditions in my listing to say that I may use alternative fulfilment methods if I run out of stock of an item.

Regarding inventory and pricing on Amazon. I am a software engineer and have written software to keep track of this and update my listings accordingly.

Thanks

EDIT :: I have seen Amazons policy on Dropshipping. It is allowed, with one exception :: You are not allowed use other retail sites for fulfilment. Does anybody have a link to eBays policy on DS? Thanks.

I despise the buyers on ebay who use me as dropshipping to Amazon. I have put actions in place to avoid scammers. Now people like you are opening the door to those scammers via my items. 2 months later, after they "borrowed","rented" or have a problem with the item you come back to me wanting refunds. Take care of your own issues with your own customers.

I report them immediately

Hi i'm sorry you feel that way. I don't plan on running any such scams. If I run this it will be a completely legitimate operation.

I guess it should be ok.

It is important to know that just because eBay or PayPal don't overtly list it as being bad, does not mean that they will not ban an account for it.

They do not always pay attention to their own TOS and T&Cs

Yes I have just noticed this and it's a pain when paypal put your money in pending will they automatically release it after 21 days if there are no problems even if I don't add tracking info?

Concerns about a claim for non delivery are a real worry. I can't see a solution? i have searched high and low and there is no other way to track an item sent through Amazon Logistics apart from in your account. I suppose if push came to shove you could insisted Amazon tell you the local carrier? But then would they have online tracking.
