I'm not in UK so others will probably be more help. I don't know if those banks run credit checks, but those are some options.

I don't think coming in with a duffel bag full of cash is going to help if you have really bad credit. It would probably make them think you're trying to launder money.

Just use a savings account...

You must have accounts with other banks already. Opening a savings account with one of them would work fine

You would never put that amount of money into one bank account these days, it will be well over the amount that is covered by the banking guarantee following on from the days a few years back when our biggest banks were found to be screwing everyone over and they were forced to offer an amount that they would guarantee to not lose for us!

Its been that since the start of the year. £10k cut!

The reason for it is it is set against the €. Because the £ is so strong against the € at the moment it reduces the compensation to be in line with the rest of the EU

Its also worth noting that it is per bank charter though not per bank

If 2 banks are part of the same group and they use the same charter then the limits for both combined is £75k
