Default Selling limits

Hi

I got this email today from Ebay:

We know how important it is for you to grow your eBay business. And here at eBay, we’re always looking for new ways to help you succeed.

As a newly registered business, you’re subject to certain trading limits, which is one of the ways we help our sellers to grow sustainably. However, by providing us with some additional information, we can better understand how to support your account for selling on our platform. That means you could be eligible for increased selling limits.

To participate, we’d ask you to reply to this email and send us the following basic information:
• Your business type (i.e. Sole Trader or Limited Company)
• Business website address
• VAT number if applicable
• Company registration number if applicable
• Your name, address, phone number and date of birth, should it differ from the details you’ve already provided at registration.
• The primary category in which you’ll sell on eBay
• How many items you plan to list on eBay within the next 6 months
• The average selling price per unit of the items you are listing on eBay

Note that by providing additional information and participating in this program, you agree to eBay sharing your data with Experian in accordance with our User Agreement and User Privacy Notice. eBay will request your personal and business records with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. When these agencies receive a search request, they will place a search footprint on your business credit file that may be seen by other organisations.

We’ll review your information to optimise your account for selling in our global marketplace. We will reply to you within 48 hours with next steps. In the meantime, you can continue to list and sell as normal on eBay.

As always, thanks for selling with us and we look forward to supporting you further.

Regards,
The eBay team

Is it a good idea to send them the information they want?, or wait for automatic increases?

It mentions a credit search, which will fail of course as it's a stealth account

Welcome to the forums. I'm a big fan that if your operations aren't broken, you don't need to make fixes. If you're selling well, why do this...

If its a stealth account it will fail those checks so its a bit pointless giving them all the information really.

Automatic increases are the way to go, trust me.

Look at selling limits like working out... You can do the hard work and gain slowly, but your health will not be at risk.
OR you can just shoot up and risk your balls and liver.

If they demand the info, then give it to them. Its pretty simple as anything that is 'non stealth' like the business info, is 'if applicable'.

I was playing around with accounts and limits, to see what worked best for high limit accounts, and I got one of those. Filled it in , sent it back, got 300 item increase, but its the luck of the draw, and as folks have said, automatic increases are the safest way forward.

Ive never had a problem calling up for an increase either - they never ask Buisness id numbers etc, Sole Trader is the way forward.

Slow build up is nice, but eventually PayPal are gonna strike you down anyway, so you can play it cool, cash in small accounts overtime, play safe and succeed like Iceman, or just go in for the kill, hit the big time and become Top Gun, like Maverick.

Thanks!

Also, I would like a nice increase on my selling limits if possible.

If I sell up to my allowance(10/650) is that enough, or do I need to actually sell something to be considered for a raise?

Edit: BTW Sorry I made a slightly similar post elsewhere that i forgot about

On a 10/650 if you sell up to your limits (item limit rather than '£' limit) then you will see your first raise after 6 -7 weeks if you have run things well.

And yes sell means sell.

Bit of a mad question, 'do I have sell things, to be able to sell even more things? '

TBF it isn't that mad, in context. It was kinda linked to another thread he is involved in, in the Aussie section. I suggested to someone else with a more mature account than CliveUK who was after getting automated limit increases, that to nudge the account enough to set off the triggers for the increases, that they may need to put out some 'BIN's' with inflated prices.

With regard to increased selling limits i still havent gathered whether you need to sell up to your selling limits to get an increase, or you can just LIST up to your selling increase. Some conflicting info

Ideally both

Making sure you list to your max ability is the bare minimum though. If you can sell to your max limit then that is even better

I would disagree here on a baby stealth account.

As far as I am concerned you only need to sell to the 10 limits for a few consecutive months to get your first raise. Doesn't matter if they are just cheap items.

I would regard this as a safer method of getting raises than selling 10 items and maxing out your '£' limits at the same time. Pretty sure such a high average sales value is more likely to set off flags.

That is pretty much what I have said above

I did not say that you needed to max out both the quantity and the £ limits, just that you need to max out.

It can be either the quantity or the £ that is maxed out.

@CliveUK was asking if he needed to actually sell to the limits, or just list to the limits. Ideally he wants to sell to the limits (which I think is what you are saying here)
