What bank accounts do you recommend?

Hi

I am looking to setup a bank account (potentially a few), preferably savings accounts as I would prefer not to open anymore current accounts.

I am just wondering what your experiences are with bank accounts you have setup and used for stealth, how easy they are to setup and overall what accounts would you recommend?

I will greatly appreciate your help.
Thank You

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

It all depends on what you want to add the bank account for.....

..... sometimes if you are using a savers to add to pp to get the 4 digit verification code, it wont come through.

Some savers from certain banks work and some dont..... before, savers always worked and now only some work..... thats if you want to add bank to get the pp code.

Things are getting tight out there, I dont like change. Oh well.

Which banks do you have current accounts with?

Most you can open savers online through your Internet banking.

NatWest and HSBC, I have opened savings accounts with both banks, HSBC worked fine but NatWest notified PayPal on one of my accounts which lead to the bank account being removed from there. I've just opened a Halifax savings account so hopefully that goes alright for me.

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

What do you mean they notified paypal and it was removed?

Do you mean the direct debit was rejected?

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

I have used HSBC for UK banking - the savings account works ok but you have to keep in mind that withdrawal fees are kind of high...so e-transfer to current accounts when withdrawing.

You also need to enable savings account for direct debit (direct deposit)

Not really true.

There are question marks over TSB. Coventry B/S do not like mismatched names.

Caution should also be exercised in the number of savers/basics opened with banks and b/s' and the timeframe too.

Yes elsewhere in the forum it has been advised to open probably not more than 2 new bank accounts a year, so as to not attract too much unwanted attention.

Also Lloyds has not been n the recommended list for some time now as so many people were having problems with them not accepting mismatched names.

See if you can get basic accounts rather than savings.

Agreed, that would certainly be over cautious!

I think as long as people are sensible and don't go opening 3 or 4 bank accounts every week, or 4 or 5 savers in a day with the same institution, then they should be OK. Just spread things out. Also be aware of which banks are parts of the same group and therefore share more information than you would expect a standard bank account application to disclose.

A current account with most major UK banks (excluding Lloyds/TSB). You should be good to go.

Avoid Barclays savers account - they recycle account numbers. Will usually work fine, but could run into trouble, especially considering you will have to call in and your fairly new to stealth.

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

Thank you all for your help, I think the last time I opened an account was over 5 years ago so nothing suspicious should be raised. I was just looking to open this new one and potentially a couple more in the future as I've lost quite a few accounts in the past few weeks and I'm looking to establish some new ones. Again great help from everyone!

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

A quick question regards bank account and PP.

I’m getting closer to beginning my first stealth ebay and PP ‘buying’ account and need to confirm a simple point regards bank accounts and PP.

Can I create and setup a new stealth PP account with a CC only i.e. without entering and verifying a bank account as well?

Note: My original PP account which is still working just fine has only ever been setup with a couple of CCs and has never had a bank account verified and linked to it. Any refunds or credits go back onto the CC I used for paying. This is an old PP account however of some 12 years, so things may have now changed regards new PP accounts?

Cheers

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

In order to lift the receiving limits a bank account will have to be linked. You can buy a VBA from here which will allow you to verify your pp account fully however if you wish to withdraw funds you will need to link your own bank account.

Hi guys I have confirmed and linked bank acc and vcc to two of my stealth accounts.
But I still have my receiving limit?

AndreasP 05-09-2016 10:34 PM

Re: What bank accounts do you recommend?

Yes, this is only 1 of many steps completed. When you are approaching the limit you will be asked to submit ID...pain in the arse every time for me

(For a ‘Buying Only' Paypal account)

Sorry to be precise on this, so are the two statements below true or false?
  • Required for creating a Paypal ‘Buying Only’ account = Verified CC only
  • Required for creating a Paypal ‘Selling & Buying’ account = Verified Bank Account & Verified CC

If I don’t need to go through the extra effort of a new bank account, that would be good news for me.

Thanks for your patience and support.

Cheers
UZ
