| | | greg2414 | 07-11-2008 11:54 AM | so equil how have you verified it against the address?? |
| Equilibrium | 07-11-2008 12:09 PM | Well I just entered the address I'm using (real address, just not mine), and the phone number and accepted the call when it came through, pressed the number to say expecting the call and got the code. All went swimmingly from there.
Same with PP - they called, I entered their code, and the PP screen said we have now confirmed you at that address (or something like that). Fairly straightforward I reckon, not even anything particularly sneaky... but if anyone asks, You ain't seen me, Roight?
Equilibrium  |
| greg2414 | 07-11-2008 12:51 PM | hahaha like that last bit :P "Today i have been mostly screwing..... Paypal" "You aint seen me Roigght"
Nah, thing is with paypal for example if i put in 20 Highmeadow, London and the phone number didnt match that address, they send a slip in post coz they cant match it.
Are you using your own address or a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address? |
| Equilibrium | 07-11-2008 01:03 PM | Using a real address,(a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address to me, but it is a real address on a real street) near my address with a geographical phone number, so has the area code of the area I am in.
The company I got it from had a Live Chat thing going on, so I spoke to a guy before I bought the number; I asked if it was suitable for Paypal/ ebay verification and he said, "We don't condone using these numbers for multiple ebay or paypal a/cs"
Obviously not - that would be wrong, maybe even morally questionable.
I gave some reason for wanting the no other than Arfur Daley purposes and the guy said it works the same as any other phone number.
So far he appears to be right.
It may be that the number I bought is registered at my real address, which is near my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, thus avoiding any address not matching phone no. kerfuffle. Not sure. All i know is it worked. (so far).
Anyhoo, I'm in stealth mode. Shhh.
Equilibrium  |
| greg2414 | 07-11-2008 02:08 PM | Good man, well i thought and i was quite sure that paypal matched to the address i mean bang on smack on correct address.. If its geographical then damn i can create about 100 accounts right now lol. |
| Equilibrium | 07-12-2008 07:38 AM | Glad to be of service! I'll PM you the details. |
| tardiscentral | 07-14-2008 01:09 PM | I would be amazed if that is the case!!! If it works please could you let me know the company you have used to do this.
Thank you. |
| paybay | 07-19-2008 11:49 AM | any other ways for verification besides the phonebox way and to get a new number because it not worth paying so much |
| noriega | 08-04-2008 06:12 AM | hi everyone! after all the preparation the phonebox method didn't work for me. has anyone tried equilibrium's way? i sent a pm but haven't received a reply yet. if anyone tried this or knows how it works please pm me. cheers |
| pastie | 08-19-2008 12:32 AM | i too tried the phone box method but it rings once and when you answer the phone its a dead line? any other plans? |
| GreenBean | 08-19-2008 02:00 AM | Carrier pigeons?
. Either harass the relatives and use their phone number and address (unless they already use ebay) or consider work numbers. |
| pastie | 08-29-2008 12:14 AM | well ive tried everything now so gonna give up i think. i dont have a work number and no family that i can use their number. the phone box really was the only hope for me so ebay you win! |
| digitaliz | 08-30-2008 09:41 PM | Where there's a will there's a way, a workaround will be found, hopefully soon. |
Paypal can be verified without phone and address i have just verified my paypal account with card and bank account
without needing to confirm location
also when i rang paypal the person told me that by adding bank and card it overides confirming location . |
| greg2414 | 08-31-2008 04:39 PM | ebay / thats a load of rubbish i think. They will sooner or later ask you to pick up a call! |
| digitaliz | 09-02-2008 09:28 PM | To fully verify a UK paypal account one must complete address verification, either via phone or postal address, so the advice given to "ebay" is as Greg has pointed out, incorrect. |
| RichieL | 09-04-2008 03:17 AM | Uk Verification Still Working Glad to see this has caused so much interest !
I am still using this method and it does work, you only need
to use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ id address with ebay registration and say you
live in london use an appropriate geographical located number,
i,e 071,081 or your own gepgraphic location. Always use
⊗⊗⊗⊗ address for ebay registration but make sure it is does
exist ! So do not say 1 arse street, croydon, EB1 AY.
Use a proper address, locational phone number and you will
not get flagged, i haven't and am running 10+ accounts
no problems, fromthe moment i posted this original post.
I use a nokia N95 with the tone switched on vol 3 (loudest)
Most phones have personalised settings which allow you to
turn up yout tone handset settings, so just check the volume
setting is on max !
Any problems PM me, oh and please dont go spending money on
extra lines, etc !! |
| sugarlaces | 09-10-2008 07:50 AM | if you have a bt line you can get an additional number which is called a "call sign"number which is charged monthly. You can also change it every so often. |
| cortex | 09-13-2008 04:46 PM | phoneboxes dont work any longer :( |
| Quasi_Mojo | 09-13-2008 07:52 PM | Unless you followed the steps and used the same equipment as the OP, you can only state that it didn't work for you.
Please try not to make blanket statements, as the method still might work for others.
Perhaps you can PM the OP and ask if it's still working for them. |
| ambercolour | 09-18-2008 11:34 PM | I think the BT boxes do work.. |
| dollybaby | 09-19-2008 03:07 PM | i just tried the phone box and it didnt work for me, it rang and i answered and ebay asked me to press the no. but when i tried pressing it on the mobile it didnt work. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:20 PM. | |
