| dbhana121 | 02-26-2020 05:27 AM | Managed payment email Hi all,
Most of my stealths received the managed payment email and was shocked to see they are intending to have it implemented by end of 2020 for the UK.
Does anyone have any experience how it affects mismatched names and adding a bank to each stealth, as I'm now getting worried. |
| james_112233 | 02-26-2020 05:30 AM | Re: Managed payment email Big changes in 2020.
I also received this email.
So not only are banks implementing checks on mis matched names. UK ebay are also implementing managed payments this year.
This could make or break many businesses. |

This could make or break many businesses. | I was under the impression it would roll out slowly, and we'd have until 2022-23, but it seems as though they're very eager to get it rolling. |
| james_112233 | 02-26-2020 05:32 AM | Re: Managed payment email I also noticed it says "business sellers" only. Doesn't mention personal accounts. |
| bhuzz | 02-26-2020 05:41 AM | Re: Managed payment email Noooooooooooooo. I saw this as the end of my business. Time to make as much money as possible. Time to adapt. |
| james_112233 | 02-26-2020 05:49 AM | Re: Managed payment email Business sellers are expected to enroll by the end of this year. And the rest of the "marketplace" which probably means non-business sellers to enroll by the end of 2021. |
Re: Managed payment email There's three threads on this in last few minutes, calm down :) |
| donkeykong2012 | 02-26-2020 05:53 AM | Re: Managed payment email Personally I think they are trying to persuade as many people to enroll as quickly as possible, by implying it will be mandatory.
It is not even compulsory in the US yet.
Nothing more than a cash grab. I think they are simply testing the water to see what they can get away with.
They know people can leave and go elsewhere nowadays. |

Would you say this is the best time to probably voluntarily enroll to avoid "scrutiny" further down the line when stealthers have no other choice and we are all forced too enroll. By then I would have thought any issues would be ironed out thus making their system even stronger. Where as now they may just let you back on even if you have been suspended pre-managed payments. |

Have you got business ebay accounts?
They started sending this email to some of our accounts. |

Ive just recently had my legit business account blocked so trying to get back on ebay |
| dbhana121 | 02-26-2020 06:16 AM | Re: Managed payment email I may opt in on one of my accounts where the PP has gone, but the ebay is still alive and was a strong account. Does anyone have any experience at all with UK managed payments? |

| Isaac | 02-26-2020 06:38 AM | Re: Managed payment email The information in the today's message from eBay is incomplete. Our accounts are registered on ebay.co.uk, but in different countries (not UK). How those who registered on co.uk, but with different countries may get UK bank accounts??... |

At this current time this affects us UK users who have a UK ebay UK paypal |

They've only converted 25,000 of US/DE accounts and many of those were done voluntarily. To get all US/DE/UK business accounts converted will take longer than the 10 months left in the year, that much is for sure.
Anybody know how many business accounts there could be on the three sites currently earmarked? |
FR/IT/ES/BE/NE together are smaller than US alone |

| phaz0rz | 02-26-2020 07:21 AM | Re: Managed payment email I recommend those of you UK guys with business entities go ahead and enroll at least one account. It's really not as bad as it's being made out in this thread.
The application process for US users was really easy and a few people here already have multiple accounts in. It's much smoother than Paypal once you get setup.
Sounds like they're doing to you guys what they did to us last year. Claiming it will be mandatory soon so they can get as many sellers in as possible now. Then once the deadline comes, they'll suddenly stop mentioning managed payments at all and nothing will be mandatory.
Maybe not, but that's what happened on USA eBay last year. |

| ebabe | 02-26-2020 07:27 AM | Re: Managed payment email Just got a message today from ebay ''eBay to start managing payments'' what does this mean for us sellers with stealth ebay accounts? Will ebay be able to see real bank information?Or will it be the same like PP. Kinda worried, I only have one stealth account that I have had since 2012 |

I already like how managed payments works on Etsy.
So they have stopped enforcing managed payments on eBay US ? are new accounts made automatically enrolled ? are existing accounts not on managed payments still allowed to operate pre-managed payments ? |

Nothing really changed. I applied on my biggest account, and I like it, but 80% of my accounts are still accepting Paypal payments, and all of the US accounts being sold here come bundled with a Paypal for payments. |

Business is as usual then. I won't be upgrading nothing until eBay gets me in headlock and bullies me in to upgrading. |

Its happening if we like it or not,
I personally think if its anything like how PayPals mismatched system works we are laughing, at-least then we only have eBay to worry about and not PayPal.
One devil off our backs. |

One devil off our backs. | Yeah I'm hoping it's exactly like their system. It's going to be an issue if they verify names for withdrawals and the initial verification. |
| agent006140 | 02-26-2020 08:45 AM | Re: Managed payment email MP will eventually replace Paypal on EBAY.
Sellers will accept payments via MP and it will deposit proceeds into your bank account |

Ebay and PayPal are parting ways. Managed payments will be a requirement for EVERY Ebay account worldwide before 2023 when PayPal's operating agreement with Ebay ends. |

This name match thing could be disastrous for you UK sellers since (if I'm interpreting it correctly) you woudln't be able to do stealth with Paypal or MP. Only option left would be running multiple legit business accounts, right? | Until it’s fully implemented it’s really difficult to tell exactly how it’s going to work but I expect the slight mismatching names or just using business bank accounts would be fine |

I was saying the same thing as you last year but I no longer have any faith in what they say about MP since they've already gone back on things they've said several times. | Despite Ebay having problems and delays with a complete roll-out of MP, this is coming whether they're (or us) is ready or not. The operating agreement with PayPal will end just as sure as the sun will burn itself out in a few million years. The only way Ebay could ever revert back to keeping PayPal as a seller option is to make a new long term operating agreement with them, something PayPal would never agree to as PayPal is thrilled with getting rid of Ebay.
As for USA MP delays, it's because Ebay is inept, disorganized, and has no clue on how business works. It's been this way for many years, and I just don't see it getting better. |
