So the 85k limit, does this relate to the VAT threshold, and if you go over this in Ebay sales will they require you to contact HMRC to become VAT registered?

Yes of course, you come close to 85k you’ll be asked to register for VAT and until you don’t provide eBay a VAT number you’ll not be allowed to list any more more items.

But will name matter on the account being added for managed payments? ? Will I have to change my name on ebay back to my real name? And then what happens to paypal that's been veried under a different name would I have to change name on that too to match ebay account?

PayPal becomes obsolete once MP is in effect. In other words, no need to worry about your PayPal account.

We dont yet know if mismatching names will be an issue or not. Have to wait to see on that one im afraid

Hate to be the one pointing this out I less I’m completely going off on a wrong tangent here but what scares me most is surely The big red flag this will create to eBay...

let’s just suppose simply putting the personal name change in eBay to our real name works to match the bank account when all of this MP becomes compulsory and all else is hunky dory in the world of stealth I.e we all get MP approves nothing else links and stealth life carries on ...

Won’t eBay suddenly notice hmm why are so many sellers suddenly changing their personal names on their seller accounts?

I think the “application of a fix” to existing stealth accounts could be the killer for them. We may be able to
move on with new stealth accounts created in our own real name moving forward but historically I can see an account cull coming :(

Bad news - When you go through the process of signing up to managed payments you WILL be asked for bank statement, regardless of you account history.

Good news - Bank statement is not difficult to produce

There are also questions to be asked with regard to European accounts, if someone for example, tried to sign up as a Slovenian person on Ebay UK, then I don't see how they would be able to do a name check like they would be able to in the UK

I spoke about this in the ID thread. I think potentially as the early adopters, we MAY get away with it, for a period anyway as they are going to be indudated with documents that they will need to process efficiently.

But its still a massive concern, John Smith turned into Kate Jones overnight.

I don't know when US started ebay managed payments but with Germany it was last summer, and still you can use PayPal for payment

Sadly, its widely denoted that ALL sellers will be using it by 2020, if not by 2021, so while other countries got a few years grace while they implemented it, the UK is the last of tjose so its being pushed home so to speak.

Also, if (as those images suggest) you have to give Ebay authority to deduct money you owe them from the provided bank account, surely this means setting up a direct debit ? Which then makes savers redundant ?

Very good point!

I believe you can add a debit/credit card for reimbursement methods, but obviously that means having a seperate card for each account. VCC's may work as the authorisation, and then if it ever happens , you'll need to pay them direct, but it's still going to be another effin' issue thats for sure.

For sellers in the UK, from what i have read its only business seller accounts for July 15th.
I only use private / personal Ebay account so i wont be opting in to MP until ALL seller accounts have to.

You have to understand that July 15 is not for EVERYONE. They slowly are starting to implement MP. It takes much more time than you think.

For private sellers, it may take longer but for business sellers, the must join date is by 15th July unfortunately.

Has any of your emails you have recieved from eBay got July 15th on it?

This is where there is some confusion, as the US sellers have got that date, but UK sellers havent.
