It’s the same bullsh*t they’ve sent to everyone

Has no meaning

The eBay / PayPal system was so good together

It’s a real shame this happening, I’ve checked eBay community forums & everyone is losing there sh*t there too

I’m just going to boycott it, worst case scenario just earn income elsewhere

Re: Managing Payments Requesting ID

paypal was only good for stealth and micropayments (thats my opinion) under MP ligit businesses with around 100k monthly turnover will be saving £2000 in paypal fee. Plus they will not have to compete with below sellers!!!

People who are complaining about this new system are:
1 who sell lookie-like items
2 who sell digital downloads
3 who burn 1-2 stealth account every month to make quick cash
4 who do not pay taxes
5 who are not registered for VAT
6 who do not want to reveal their id and still sell and earn money... woww
7. people who do not want money to come into their bank account! WHY? rest you know better ;)

Like it or not this is a good step by ebay. If someone is even banned by ebay in past then they can get back on platform with 1 stealth account (by putting their real details on account). A ligit business is not banned in 99% of cases. A ligit business do not need more than 1 and maximum 2 accounts to trade............ Like it or not stealthers need more accounts to f*** the ebay and customers :D

Ebay has raised category fee but not as much i think. I am not sure about this but i think only half a percent. But paypal commission is around 2.5%. So thats still a saving of 1-2% at least.

Re: Managing Payments Requesting ID

I've read they are offering cash incentives $50 - $300 to sellers across the pond to sign up to MP.

Reeks of desperation.

Also read that those enrolled in to MP will lose out in sales from non-mp ebay sites. I sell a lot to Japan, S.Korea, Thailand & Singapore. So I will lose out big time.

Re: Managing Payments Requesting ID

I've done the numbers in my own situation and I will be marginally better off

IMO this is more about Ebay finally seperating from Paypal (will take years yet I think) and taking control of the site

I realise fully the angst some are feeling but no one, given the nature of the beast that is Ebay, can be in the least surprised that they would take steps to stop the people mentioned in the comment above

For sure some people will disappear but truly, is that a great loss to Ebay and Ebay buyers?

I think not

Yeah ... so pretty much the same thing. They are offering people incentives to sign up. Ebays getting desperate or why would they.

What is the ID process on MP? Is it just sending in an id scan or is it more intrusive? real time video holding ID etc? Most of my accounts are personals but a hand full of business but as of yet no forcing of MP on any - just went through all the emails. All i can find is the beta invites from jan/feb nothing since

Scan of your passport or driving license - no real time video

As long as it is a clear picture then I don't see why not.

Received this email today, the restriction threat date has been moved to 10 Aug. I hope this will be moved further down the line..
----------------------------------------
This is your last reminder to register for managed payments.

Remember, your account is scheduled to be enabled in late July - please register by July 15 for eBay to manage your payments. If you miss the registration deadline, starting from 10/08/2020, we will start to restrict your ability to create new listings.

When you sign up to ebay you don't give them DOB? Only paypal asks it?

27 July has come today but ebay has not put any restriction on putting up new listings... good signs for the time being :)

Yes, nothing has changed so far.

The question is: is this eBay just trying to maximise profits by taking a huge chunk of PayPal's business or is it about making sellers more accountable?

I've been selling on eBay for over 20 years. Everything they have ever done was entirely about making money. They've only bothered with accountability when legally obliged (ie people selling items that are copyright infringes).

Much remains to be seen, but I do suspect that eBay have been trying scare people into signing up to MP. I might be wrong, but I can't see a profit-mad company like eBay restricting selling.

They are profit mad but why they indefinitely suspend sellers for the smallest of reasons. Just wondering if these real baned accounts will be allowed back
