Looks like I'll be uploading ID and bank statement.
What does it mean linking your accounts via bank sign-on? |

After you do that you then have to agree to all the terms conditions and part of those terms conditions are that eBay will be up to see all of your account activity across all of your bank account registered with that particular bank |

| JamesNorth101 | 06-25-2020 04:37 PM | Re: Been asked for ID after registering for MP..... In theory yes it does sound like that would be possible in practice I’m not actually sure if they would look through all the bank data that they will have been granted access to
Moral really here is don’t use that option use the bank statement option |

| StealthHarry | 06-28-2020 04:35 AM | Re: Been asked for ID after registering for MP..... Photo ID will definitely be required but it’s not as if PayPals never asked for Photo ID
I don’t think they’ll do the checks - it wouldn’t make sense, Amazon does it - eBay has always been the Wild West and if they do do such a thing they’ll be like a copy cat amazon rather than a eBay IMO could be wrong |

Ebay want to play in the same game as Amazon and Etsy
Since the split from Paypal it could be argued that they are not as efficient as the rest of the market as they rely on a 3rd party payment processor
When Etsy, a relative upstart compared to Ebay, dropped Paypal they showed the way to increase the control they had over their marketplace and increase their profits
I do not believe stealthers even appeared in the discussions. Much as we may like to big up our own importancs we are collectively little more than a pimple to be scratched as far as Ebay is concerned
There is also the matter of security
The type of operation that required lots of Ebay accounts that were getting burned or were dealing 'unauthorised' lookee lickie items and suspect digital downloads will now be a thing of the past
It may well be that the market in stealth acvounts will also disappear. There is no real market in Amazon or Etsy accounts
That is not to say that Ebay stealth will disappear, there will always be a need and where there is a need a market place will develop
Whether or not it will be legal is a seperate matter but people will always finf a way
There are already several ways but their legality is suspect and the costs will be high
Ebay will live with the fact that some will get through their security screen
The real loosers will be the scammers with their 20+ accounts dealing what Ebay do not want
I think Ebay will be safer for Joe Public and MAY get some credibility back | |

That perception of eBay being the wild west. How does that attract more buyers to the platform if people think of eBay as the wild west ? |

I personally think it will be mandatory, however PayPal havent ask for ID if you are found on their credit searchs/electoral roll check etc. But even still, if you pass that, then you will have ID, so it matters now. |

Not stating that it’s a fact. An opinion. Could well be right Quote:
