Default Adding a bank, Ebay personal seller

Hi all

I've added a savings account to a personal Ebay seller account.

Will anything happen when Ebay can't retrieve the 1p test payment(because it's a saver account)

Or should all be fine?

Thanks

i did once on a hsbc uk savers account - like a decade ago so that's my only experience - unless you have set the parameters on the saver account as deposit only...the test payment should still come out - however if eb cant take out the 1p, it'll fail and you will be asked for different account [i had the parameters on the savers account as deposit only]

With savings accounts you can never list them for eBay.
just because of the problem of micro deposits and withdrawals from eBay...
you should always use checking accounts

Since ebay changed the system from adding two payments which you then verify each amount; to depositing and retrieving a penny which also then identifies the name on the account i have not managed to use a saver account, only current

It seems Ebay only user this withdrawal process for personal accounts though.

What happens when the names don't match?

How can Ebay retrieve the deposits from a savers accounts when savers accounts aren't eligible for direct debit???

When I added the bank I saw something about DD, but I think it will fail

Update: I now have a message from Egay saying that they tried to deposit and withdraw the micropayment but it failed, of course because it's a savings account. They want me to log in through Trustly of course.

What do I do in this situation??

I noticed that with business accounts they don't force you to do this log in BS

Perhaps I should upgrade to a business account, I can't see any other way because if I log in with Trustly then they will see the name on the account is different.

looks like upgrading is the smoothest option - - logging in through trustly wouldnt necessarily reveal the name on the account since there i no withdrawal of money, no?

Can you stop ruining peoples threads with your guess work, or your experience from a decade ago when MP didn't exist? This is a UK MP section.

A decade ago,we all have to accept Paypal payments from Ebay buyers, then we will go to our Paypal account and transfer the fund to our bank account.
In some categories, such as Ebay motors, heavy equipment, servers, real estate, you can use alternative payment method.
Some sellers would accept a Paypal down payment ,rest is either wiretransfer, cashier check or cash.

Correct. That's why I called them out with their nonsense and why they didn't reply.

Sometime I wonder what on earth is going on in some folks heads. Posting for posting sake I would guess.

Just because i dont reply in 2 days doesnt mean that i dont intend to reply.

my point about the use of my HSBC savers accounts whether a decade ago or 5 years ago as well was that the ACCOUNT DID ACCEPT THE 2 MICRODEPOSITS. iI know a decade ago we were still on pp and the account worked with microdeposit receiving back then. I think about 5 years ago [i cant recall exactly] when eb moved over to MP system, I used the same accounts[s] and they were accepted.

Perhaps things have changed since then. I have my own experience so it's not nonsense - things do change I know.

1) it was a week ago.

2) you said you added a bank account to accept disbursements a decade ago - you didn't.

3) stop digging.

They told me they had trouble retrieving the microdeposit, so I have added the same bank account again.

If that doesn't work I will try upgrading the account to a business account as the micro deposits don't seem to be an issue with business accounts

Just to touch on this

Adding a savings acc. I presume an easy saver in ur case will allow the 1p deposit go in but not come out. So this will eventually trigger, “the bank acc not verified”…

Advice to get around this.

1. Manually put in the details again the sort code and acc no. ALWAYS MANUAL. it will then lead to another failed verification alert maybe in some minutes. Then manually put in the same details again. It will fail again but this time as option to upload bank statement will pop up. Send doc and within five days this problem will be resolved and never happen again as it’ll be manually checked and ticked as pass on managed payments end.

2. In payment hub on seller profile. Never marked bank acc as to pay selling fees. Cuz it’ll trigger the system to try and get listing fees from that saving acc of which payments can’t come out from. So always add a cc and use that for fees collection.
