Default Setting up new UK PayPal account after abandoning old one

Hi folks,

Will try my best to explain the situation in full. I've had quite a lengthy read through the forums but nothing seems to reflect the answers for my exact situation.

Basically I had been a long term, legitimate PayPal user for 8+ years. Always quite cautious and successfully managed to avoid scams....until last winter. I sold something via a listing website but the person asked if I could put up the item on eBay, pay with PayPal and pick the item in person. It seemed dodgy but I was desperate for the sale, and I tried to cover my ass and withdrew the funds to my bank immediately. Little did I know that wasn't going to make a difference.

Long story short after that: eBay/PayPal account holder said they got hacked, that they didn't buy anything and filled for a chargeback. My account was put into 4 digit minus figures to cover the chargeback. I appealed, filed a police report - didn't make a difference. Was hounded by PayPals partner debt collection agency Akinika for months on end. I refused to make up the balance and the only reason they stopped was because I:

- Moved to a new city/new address
- Got a new bank account
- Got a new phone number
- Got a new email address

Things that have obviously remained the same:

- Name
- Date of birth

Now my question is around opening a new PayPal account. Given that a lot of the details have changed including my IP, some of the big ones like my name and date of birth have obviously remained the same. I'm worried about them linking the new one with the old one through name, and thus finding out my new address and getting hounded for the old funds that haven't been made up on the old account.

Anyone know if they're able to do this - or how they're system works?

This kind of happened to me but with identity theft. I did the same as you and filed Police reports but with no luck, they kept sending the debt collectors after me.
(The person also took a loan out in my name among other things and I managed to get this resolved and removed from my credit score but paypal would never budge.)

I live 130 miles away from that address now and got a new Mac, phone and email but if I made a paypal account with my own details it would get limited within a few months if they received payments or disputes.
Unless you have a really common name I think that and date of birth alone is enough to link you. Especially when it gets to the stage when you need to provide ID.

I have a buyers account with my own details that has been going a long time, but I have never received a single payment to this account.
Personally I wouldn’t recommend it if you plan on receiving payments but maybe someone else knows better.

If your name is common like "John Smith" then you'd probably get away with opening a new account in your real name and date of birth at your new address. Just be aware though that Paypal UK do use the services of the credit bureaus so if you were to get a manual review of the account they could easily see your previous address and make a link that way. It's not very likely to happen but it is a possibility.

If you want to remove of risk of linking, use a stealth name and date of birth.

What are the chances of two people having the exact same name and dates of birth. Very unlikely.

So the above member is correct. You will need to use a new identity if you would like eliminate the risk of being linked.

However, a new identity will require new documents to prove that identity (if you are planning to use PayPal for receiving payments).

Lastly, I don't think it's that hard for the bailifs to find your new address especially if you are on the payroll, so no matter what, you will have to always live with this dreadful fact.

Not actually true at all.

Quite possible to run stealths without ever submitting documents to prove I.D.

Of course it's possible. Lots of things are possible.

It will require documents if they put the OP's single new account on hold for a manual review.

That is not what was said.

YOU said:

Clearly NOT the case. A new stealth identity does not need documents to receive paypal payments. You can operate a stealth system and sell £100,000 worth per year without ever having to submit documents.

If you are running your stealths correctly, the chances of you being flagged for a manual review are so tiny it isn't even worth considering.

Everytime you get highlighted for bad and incorrect information, which is a lot, you seem to like to backtrack and make out you were talking about a completely different subject that wasn't ever asked.

It is best if you educate yourself first on stealth before giving advice which is wrong. You have only got one little account you rarely use, apparently after all.

YOUR POSTS WERE DELETED, YET YOU STILL INSIST ON COMING BACK SPEWING MORE NONESENSE!!

A new identity will require new documents IF the identity needs to be proved.

Enough said.

I am correcting you, because as normal you are wrong, and giving out incorrect information.

As usual.

Maybe you need to get your tax affairs in order rather than post incorrect info on here?

There is no need to prove identity to withdrawal funds from paypal. If you know what you are doing you will have only a tiny chance of ever getting a manual review. There is no need to ever produce I.D when running a considerable stealth operation if you have the knowledge and that is what you wish.

ABSOLUTE BS AND STOP REPLYING FOR GOD'S SAKE

OP asked about "opening a PayPal acount" i.e a single PayPal account.

NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR SUPPOSEDLY VAST COLLECTION OF USELESS STEALTH ACCOUNTS

We are on about 1 PayPal account. Documents are REQUIRED when you reach the receiving limit.

again, NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT YOUR SIDE-TRACK METHODS OR YOUR MULTIPLE STEALTH ACCOUNTS.

Its funny, you were morally outraged by swearing yesterday.

Are my vast collection of stealths useless?

Am I side tracking with my stealth methods? Or just showing a knowledge that you haven't the capacity or understanding to comprehend?

You are telling me not to reply? because my knowledge is far superior to yours and I am showing you up as desperate and insecure?.

Keep it up. Showing your true colours now.

Fact is there is no need to ever show documents for any stealth if you run your overall system well.

Fact is you need to learn how to read before posting.

Listen, your methods are fairly easy to understand. You probably sell just under the receiving limits on your USELESS stealth accounts, only to have the timers reset year after year.

This is probably your so called ingenious "stealth system" LOL
