Default Taking paypal to Court

I have taken PayPal to court 3 weeks ago.

The Original thread regarding this here:

https://www.aspkin.com/forums/uk-eba...-180-days.html

Paypal was unresponsive to my court action.

I have a default CCJ against them now in UK.

Will let you know once i can recover the funds.

Many law firms. You'll need to perhaps find one in the US that can also deal with UK affairs, or find a UK one via Google.

Get ready to loosen those purse strings. They can be very expensive depending on the monetary value of your case.

I don’t think at that point (wining a case against paypal) a law firm can do alot except giving advices.

Making a small claim in the UK (up to £10000) does not involve any major expense. Inferring that lawyers etc are needed is totally incorrect.

So you won your small claims case and got your CCJ.

What's the next step? Also, how much did it end up costing you?

I did say, "They can be very expensive depending on the monetary value of your case."

Of course, if the value is below the threshold, a small claim would suffice. Though if you pass the threshold, it is very expensive indeed.

Yes, I read what you said but the OP already has a CCJ against them. Irrespective of the amount it can be recovered without the need for lawyer involvement.

Spot on and it's something that doesn't require the OP to "lawyer up" to do.

My claim is just under £750 so serving a statutory demand is not going to be an option.

Does anyone know of PayPal’s Richmond address whether they have an actual office there or not! I don’t want to pay the bailiffs fees without being sure that there will be assets there.

Hi guys,

Firstly, many thanks for your help and support, much appreciated.

I have got in touch with PayPal and sent them a copy of the judgment.

Yesterday, I received a letter by post from a solicitors informing me that PayPal has appointed them to act on their behalf on the claim.

The letter already stated the Court claim number, so they have received the copy I sent them by email.

I have sent paypal’s solicitors an email which they responded asking for a copy of the claim form, I then called the court and asked whether to pass this over to them or not, the gentleman over the phone said that should be fine.

An hour later, received another email from the solicitors informing me that they will be challenging the court decision as the company name which the claim was issued to PAYPAL (EUROPE) LTD is wrong, they are claiming that it’s not a branch of paypal europe s.a.r.l. et cie s.c.a and PayPal Europe doesnt provide any payment services and it has no relation with PayPal users.

Now, they are asking for the CCJ to set aside and the claim to struck out.

Is this correct that PayPal Europe LTD is not responsible for any payment in the UK?

What are your thoughts guys!

Best to speak to a solicitor. You really dont want the opinions of the armchair experts on here.

Thanks for your response.

The thing is a solicitor will cost money, I really don’t want to pay £400-500 solicitor fees.

Would it be possible for them to overturn the court decision that easy?

PayPal made injustice decision and they don’t want to admit it, they gave the scammer my payment even after eBay confirmed to them that the seller has lied about the whole thing and he compromised the eBay account to scam me and others.

Goes to show even with delay tactics, paypal knows the system. They are already succeeding in having you back off due to cost

Unfortunately, I could not yet as PayPal EU Ltd. is not so willing to release.
