UK Based but Payal asking for IRS Cert of Foreign Status
 

We are based in the UK selling to UK only on a stealth account. We have received a message from PayPal.com asking us to fill in a certificate of foreign status for the year 2018.
The message says there should be an Alert Notification on our PayPAl account. There isn't one, but there are attachments to the email which they can be filled in & emailed back.
Is this genuine, do we have to do it, what happens if we don't.
Never had this before, any suggestions appreciated.:help:

Send nothing. Sounds like an attempt to scam you / hack your account.

When Paypal request information, they always do it from within the account when logged in.

If they need that from you it will show as a notification in PayPal itself

Log in and see if you have one inside your PayPal. If not ignore it. I got mine about a month ago but only when I logged into PayPal

Happened to me, as well. Here there are my details:

Romanian Business PP Account
No alert notification in PP account
Email Received in the email address which is associated with this account
2 PDF documents attached to this email (Certificate of Foreign Status_Entities and Other Business Type, Certificate of Foreign Status_Individuals)

Mentioned in the email body: Note - If you're unable to complete the certification process by logging into your account, you can resolve your certificate of foreign status by filling out the relevant attached tax Form, and sending it to taxdocumentupload@paypal.com. Our Tax Operations team will review the tax Form accordingly.

The email address from which this message has been sent looks a bit too generic (paypal@paypal.com), but other than that, it kind of looks genuine.

I haven't sent the filled and signed documents yet.
What do you guys think?

Login to your paypal and see if there's a notification.

ALWAYS do this before you send them anything because emails and info in it can be spoofed to look like it's real.

If the notification is there, then come back here and we'll tell you what to do.

If there is no notification in the PayPal itself then ignore it

Following the comments above haven't filled in he forms & forwarded message to spoof@paypal.com. In the mean time not leaving too much in the account - just in case
