eCheque + Hold

If my item has sold and the buyer pays by eCheque, does the days of this eCheque pending count towards the 21 day hold? i.e

5 days pending eCheque then 14 days hold afterwards (21 days)

or

5 days pending eCheque then 21 days hold afterwards (26 days)
