I can only comment on the way having multiple bank accounts in Canada work so I can't really say much for the U.S./U.K. system.

There is a list in the forums I believe that list which banks will need names to match. Do a search around here OR look in the Stealth Book.

A word of warning to those using thinking of using Santander, if you open up a basic account with no debit card, then I assume you are going to want to transfer this cash to another account which has a debit card attached. This is easily done by faster payment service(1 day), but Santander don't let you do it online, you have to speak to the Indian call centre which is a truly horrifying experience, believe me, I have to call every day and they have screwed up so many things I have been given compensation threes time in 10 days.

They seem very reluctant to put payments through as faster payments, and will tell you a bunch of lies like 'you have to do it in the branch and pay £25', or 'computer says no'. Three times they confirmed they did it my FP when in fact they sent it as a normal transfer, caused mayhem.
