Default How much business initially?

Hi all,
I have read both the eBay Stealth and paypal ebooks(I bought them with another name). There is a lot of info regarding keeping amounts down for the first month or so. Am I correct to assume that is for ebay only?
I am about to make my site live and I sell software and such for letting agents and hostels and the average price is about £500. If I am lucky enough to get 4 or 5 sales in the first day or so due to my ad words campaign is Paypal likely to limit me and not let me take this money out of my account?
I have been fully verified and had my limits lifted.

Any help would be great, thanks

Why would you be accepting Paypal on your own site? I have said this over and over. Ebay is the ONLY place on the web where Paypal is expected. Do yourself a favor and get a merchant account and make as much money you want.

I think that PayPal would view these transactions as risky. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm starting to know how they think (and that scares the hell out of me!).

I think you will be much better off with a real merchant account. PayPal is famous for limiting people. Merchant account providers will tell you upfront about any holds or restrictions.

Thanks for your replies.
I initially setup paypal as it was quicknd I could use stealth acconts in case I got limited. It looks like I need lots of I.D etc for GCO and it also has to be correct. i.e Drivers licence etc. Is there a way of using GC with a stealth account of some sort?
There is some evidence on here that GCO gets shut down as well.

So you're running a legit business away from ebay and you're worrying about being stealth?
Please!

I am more than happy to use my correct info on Google checkout but wasnt aware that it could even be used for the same purpose. I thought it was the same as something like streamline, which require business plans etc.
I don't fear getting limited by paypal for dodgy dealings but more the amount of money going through the account.
Boatloads have complained that legit businesses have been shut for no reason and I want to avoid that. If that means I shouldn't even use paypal then I can move straight to Google checkout.

Hopefully you won't be too critical that I have concerns for not having my profits stolen by paypal.
Thanks,
Mark

And that's why don't use paypal - use a service that ACCEPTS paypal...like CCNow /plug over.

You are in the UK you could take a look at Nochex merchant account, as then the buyers have the option to join Nochex or not, as they can just pay with their cards and most site scripts have a Nochex option for integration.

I think it costs about fifty quid though for the merchant account

If I recall google integration was constantly messing up, as they just seemed to be not interested in keeping up with script upgrades.

I agree with what everyone else says, if you sell anything that is high end off ebay, then do not use paypal as a payment method, as it is just too open to scams.

Most of its users have no idea how to create a good password so you never know if it is a real person or some scammer that has hijacked their account, as paypals log in is a joke.

my advise take your business from paypal and run for the hills, only use them when you 100% have to otherwise you will become a member of their 180 days club and take it from me its not a club you want to join

I guess, we shouldn't spread this rumour further, as it will only cause disappointment.
180 could only be cut to 45 days, if credit cards companies like Visa, Mastercard etc, reduce THEIR time allowance of filing disputes/Chargebacks to 45 days than the current 180 day.
I hope it makes sense.

It's some random rumor but I would not bank on that policy to change due to policy of chargebacks and what not.
