how do paypal know this

We have done some checks and, unfortunately the information you have entered doesn't match the details we found for you. Please click on the Confirm your personal information link and try again.

then they fill out details for me and its a postcode i dont want to use as its been banned before............. yet it keeps reverting to this automatically even though i signed up totally differently.

If i confirm what they say, will i get limited straight off because of the postcode or can i withdraw money quickly and run

smellybelly 06-27-2011 04:04 PM

same problem i faced, however, i was not automatically transferred to another page/site on paypal?

im just going to confirm my bank and card and hopefully that is enough

J3OEF 06-27-2011 04:07 PM

Ive confirmed bank card and address is confirmed (home) even though its my stealth details, yet on my computer it told me to fax documents or upload, then on my sisters computer that step is no longer there and i have the option of confirming information but it auto fills in my info and puts the "banned" postcode in :-s

hmmmm

smellybelly 06-27-2011 04:32 PM

lol... hmm , weird - maybe another experienced user could help then i guess :s

J3OEF 06-28-2011 06:45 AM

I'm sure they will be along soon with ideas..... its a strange one. Do I put in real details which paypal finds for me bit changes house number or something or do I fail it an send in docs with stealth address.

rsot 06-28-2011 09:42 AM

Is your IP from the first account in your area?

J3OEF 06-28-2011 09:49 AM

beeen using mobile web via HTC WIFI but first account was IP in this area yes.

rsot 06-28-2011 10:38 AM

Odd but you prob just lucked out and had someone actively looking at the file - someone who knows UK well...

oompaloompa 06-28-2011 10:47 AM

THEY fill out postcode for you - like a mystery hand typing! you mean you fill out one set of address totally different, and it changes to your old postcode? Explain further step by step

is it because you are putting in the road that matches your old postcode but are trying to put a non matching postcode in? is that it? ie a postcode that is not for that road?

J3OEF 06-28-2011 10:52 AM

Right,

signed up using stealth details, different name and real postcode but not my original one.

Logged in, went to confirm and it had auto filled some details in for me which were postcode and street name...... ones which i didnt want to use.....

oompaloompa 06-28-2011 11:13 AM

sorry if Im being dim but...

was it just doing a match of road and postcode ie you put in a road and it said no this is wrong postcode, here is correct one....(not seen this before, but might be a new thing) in which case less to worry about that can be sorted..

otherwise it is remembering you from some link eg cookies, possibly flash, doubt it, very very much doubt IP...

got a feeling there is a harmless explanation to this.....

the banned one, is it the same as the post code on your real bnk acc ?

smellybelly 06-28-2011 11:53 AM

i have never known paypal to automatically fill in information... ?

jbluntz 06-28-2011 12:13 PM

Sounds like you put an address that didn't match postal records so paypal is trying give you one that does match postal records, right?

thats my thought too...

J3OEF 06-28-2011 01:31 PM

Bank account is registered at this address yes but.i thought they ave no idea about them details. Possibly j bluntz.

If I went with their details would it picture then ban me or would I have time to move the money....

jbluntz 06-28-2011 01:39 PM

If it has to do with postal records then you should be fine, I've changed my address up many times on accounts that used a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address and paypal can only see your bank # not the address registered with the bank.

J3OEF 06-28-2011 02:07 PM

So what do you suggest i do?

Go with paypals pre found details of me or should i fail the test and upload the docs / fax? where it shows my stealth details, just logged in on this computer and it tells me to fax docs etc which is weird.

oompaloompa 06-29-2011 03:34 AM

you cant go with an address that has been banned if you add a different name and it has been a few years since banishment, otherwise you must use different details.

I dont get this autofill prob, just made one last week.....you are doing something wrong with mismatching that causes this, have a practice again....

smellybelly 06-29-2011 03:45 AM

maybe u have autofill enabled which automatically fills in ur information into web forms

clear all cookies/caches/files etc

J3OEF 06-29-2011 09:02 AM

its a new web browser on a different log in though?

Shall i just fax the docs off as thats what its telling me to do on this computer, then one i use all the time, it gives me no option to fill in any address, that just randomly come up on my sisters computer.

As either way, the address thing is gonna fail unless i put the correct house number but for example after it, differ as a flat, 4A if they even look at things like that?

oompaloompa 06-29-2011 10:49 AM

oops I meant you CAN go with banned address after few years and diff name...

J3OEF, please search the forums for posts on address variations, poboxes and just using random addresses, bottom line, dont put in banned name and address combo....the rest is just preference and what works for you.

J3OEF 06-29-2011 02:34 PM

So banned surname and address would put paypal on alert an will not let me withdraw? will av a serch too

oompaloompa 06-30-2011 07:41 AM

what? no read what I said

J3OEF 06-30-2011 11:21 AM

I did, you say u can after a few years, however my surname is the same as my mothers and i was banned last year approx september !!

So if i use her surname and the same address, that will only put them on alert right, specially if i try to withdraw £700

eBay King 07-04-2011 07:11 PM

If you try and withdraw £700 (or even anything like that) PP will go nuts, want DNA and blood samples. Even then they will ruin the account.

If you use the same address and surname it could cause problems, but always worth a try if there is nothing to lose in the account. If it don't work, then at least you know where you stand and may have to go with fresh stealth details.

Stigger 07-05-2011 02:50 PM

i think i may be able to fix this but i would need to take a look at the account through teamviwer.

By the way have you checked the bank account to see if PP have tried to make a withdrawal ?

Did you have anything in the bank account ?

isitworththestress 07-06-2011 01:52 AM

Did you use a bank card or a gift card?

J3OEF 07-06-2011 11:19 AM

what do u mean bank card or gift card?

TeamViewer i can do if need be? PP have not tried to withdraw anything, i need to withdraw from them.....

Stigger 07-12-2011 05:19 AM

Sent you another email

they have checked the postcode attached to the card thats why they keep entering the same one for you.

to pass the limitaion without sending id you should use the post code attached to the CC/Bank account but not the full address if that makes sence.

its not 100% it will pass without id as it's been in limbo for a while, which could raise a flag who knows

J3OEF 07-13-2011 09:08 AM

tried that, still come back same, dont match even though it should and i need to upload docs etc

J3OEF 07-23-2011 06:05 PM

Faxed off some edited docs on wednesday and recieved this email this evening, any ideas what now? can they genuinely not see or are they taking the mickey out of me?
