Mattafc, You dont say???????? So a phonebook is not a database? You dont think that the phonebook is not online?
I give up with you lot i tell you. |
Mate try not to be so narrow minded, as if you have all the answers, and READ my replies, take it in for a few seconds and then reply.
Yes I clearly said they can use the same information as stored in the phonebooks. HOWEVER, as I said the phonebook doesnt connect a NUMBER to a FIXED ADDRESS. Also a phonebook database, the one which is published nationally doesnt contain all numbers as you can choose to have your number removed from it. |

Hi,
I would be very interested to hear whether anybody else has had any success with Paypal phone verification using a pay phone recently. Does mattcafc's technique work?
Also, if mattcafc could please confirm how recently he used this technique I would also be very grateful. Has it worked since March this year?
Thanks for reading...Can anyone help me please?
Thanks guys | It worked as of 3 days ago for me |

are you saying PP check the phone book ? | He is saying they check the same data as seen in the nationally published phonebook. Which is 100% wrong for lots of reasons |

What an arse you are. Oh - did I say that? |
| mattcafc | 09-25-2008 10:22 AM | So how comes numbers work that are not publically available? Such as my private work number?
By private - its an unlisted number, not listed with direct enquires etc etc |
| Quasi_Mojo | 09-25-2008 05:33 PM | Here's something that UK members might want to look into: Quote: Get an additional number with a different ring tone
£1.75 per month
If you're tired of being your children's receptionist or fed up of answering other people's calls then Call Sign is just what you're looking for. You'll know who each call is for, or who is calling, because calls from certain numbers will have a different ring tone.
We'll give you an additional number for your phone, which will have a separate ringing tone when it is called. Who you give your Call Sign number to is up to you. It could be your children's friends, or an elderly relative, so you immediately know it's them when the phone rings. You can also use it to separate business and personal calls, or calls from fax machines.
If your BT phone line was connected after 01/08/07 this feature is currently unavailable on your line.
| Get BT Calling Features including BT 1571, Call Waiting and more Delta Computer Services - What is BT Call Sign? Delta Computer Services - BT TwinTalk Call Sign switches
Here's another post about it (a little outdated): Second Phone Line? - Page 3 - UK Business Forums - the UK's most active help and advice forum for owners, managers and entrepreneurs of small businesses and startups.
I, personally, have no idea if it will work - Just saying it's an idea. |

I have an address and post code on ebay that relates to the phone box location. Its not always anywhere near where I actually live and it works for me |

| GREMLIN | 11-22-2008 02:41 PM | Problem with paypal phone verification Hi all
I just tried the phonebox method and for som reason when paypal called they asked me to input a 4 digit number which was given when you press continue for call me now or after 1 minute
I enterd the 4 digits from my n95 phone into the mic(bottom part of the payphone phone set,the part that you speak into) and it just wouldnt register it. So now they are going to send a letter.
Account is now messed up............
I had 3 attempts on the same call but it just wouldnt work....
Anyone know why?
Will i be able to use the same bank account for anpother account.
Its a real bummer because i did the entropay virtual card linking and bank linking. Went through all of this to find out it doesnt work.
:( |
| mattcafc | 11-22-2008 05:12 PM | I beg to differ |
| GREMLIN | 11-22-2008 08:11 PM | Hi mettcafe
Please would you mind sharing how you do this. I tried it exactly the same way someone else done it and it worked for thm but not me.The payphone was on a mainroad so i made sure i did it at night when there wouldnt be too much noise pollution to overpower the mobile volume.
I dont dispute the fact that it works but am just trying to figure out why ot works for some and not others. The only explanation i have is that it didnt pick up the ring tone. maybe it wasnt load enough. I will try it again but this time with some speakers.
Do you think its worth a shot? |
| mattcafc | 11-24-2008 11:57 AM | I explained exactly how I did it a few pages back my friend. The last day I have had it work was last Thursday which was the 20th. |
| GREMLIN | 11-24-2008 04:40 PM | Hmm
well i dont blame him for not posting on here. Would hoever appreciate a pm if you wouldnt mind metcaff :p

Havent tried it but i think his trick is the speaker thing. I personally wouldnt hang around phoneboxes at night, in case I met a weirdo. |
