PayPal limited, asking for proof of ID etc., Dont want to give it...
 

Hi there!

To summarise, paypal account limited, they are now asking for proof of address, id etc. the account has some money but no bank or credit cards attached.

The other paypal account reached its £1900 receiving limit, eu law states you need to have bank etc. verified if thats the case according to paypal.

My question, how do I get the balance out? Will paypal release the funds after 180 days? I dont want to give any of my documents to them.

So with all the hacking of ebay's servers and this and that you can understand why im so sceptical.

So how long does paypal hold your proof of id etc before deleting them?

Yes, they will release the money to you after the 180 day period. Do one thing before to guarantee they know you do not want to send them any information. Phone or email and tell them you will NOT be supplying them documents or ID and you want to part ways.

This will just guarantee 180 days starts and your money will become available, DO NOT just leave it, I found out the hard way and ended up waiting 360!

My understanding is forever.

Paypal have copies of my legit Passport and Proof of Address.

I gave them copies years ago after they limited me and then refused to reinstate the account after I supplied them.

To say I am unhappy about it is an understatement.

Which only motivates me to move on and beat them.....

hmmm...on the phone they said 30 days and they delete it off their system. A pile of rubbish talk I guess?

Quick hint: get such claims in writing with the full details of the staffer.....

Funnily enough, when you ask for that, they send auto response - we recommend you call us and speak to a member of our team... makes me laugh out loud!

LOL Thanks. 360 days is not pleasant.

So to confirm, regardless of reason, anytime they limit your account after 180 days of speaking with them you will get your money back. No ifs and buts after 180 days?

You will still need at add a bank account to withdraw it after this, as you wont be able to use the send money button while your account is limited ( even after 180 days)

I can use any bank account previously associated with a limited account right? or not?

No, you cannot use a bank account that has been on another paypal account before. Even if you removed it, it will still be registered with another paypal account.

I don't know.. in the past I would say forever.. but with new regulations, policy changes and clamping down at PayPal.. it would make sense that they destroyed what they were legally obligated to destroy.. anything else is fair game though.

Are you limited because of the £1900 limit?

You will need to attach a bank to get the balance out. Either that or you can request a cheque but it will be emailed to the stealth address and will be in the stealth name.

You might want to reconsider your plan.

I'd verify the Paypal with a bank account and then submit the documents they are asking for. You really have nothing to lose and if it works out it's a win win.

Been happening on ebay com & ebay co uk for the last 2 years for some.

I have evidence that documents sent (photo ID, utility bills, bank statements etc) are deleted after review (could be 30 days as claimed).

Of course all information regarding addresses, phone numbers etc is held for an indeterminable length of time.

It is not a given that ALL the funds will be released after 180 days.

Avoid assuming you will get everything back in case paypal play dirty.

In their T&S paypal reserve the right to hold funds if they deem they have the right to do so. Some users have had reduced balances released. Any troubles during the hold period, will see amounts taken from the held balance.

I heard on some radio show, that if you write into a company and request they destroy all information they hold on you. Then they have to comply, due to data protection laws. As they say they no longer wish to do business with you then they have no more need for your information.

Same as the one where you can request they send you the information they hold on you. And ask them to give good reason why they are keeping it and who has access to it.

If what you say is correct, should this not be the new aspkin tactic LOL?

Think about it, paypal gets limited, send em a request to get it all destroyed, open new account with all the same details, on the basis everything WAS destroyed, no link = happy bunny?

I dont, but imagine there was a law, and if they did link your new account they would have broken the law and so you can sue them - oh that would feel so good, for all those 180 days they made me wait :P
