Those doubting the OP he didn't say 55k was profit being held in his paypal account. That's just his turnover/sales.

The real question is how he remained so calm and what he did to stop ebay sales continuing whilst account was limited ? ... are you still doing business on ebay ? how ? new address ? new bank ?

I just discovered this thread.

To the people who don't believe such things happen. Trust me, it does happen. Some people got huge amount of money locked by PP.

I myself currently have 44K euro on hold by Paypal, since 30 Days now.

I expected a release (maybe not 100% of the funds, but some) since their first mail advised me that the account would be reviewed after 30 days, but after a quick call, the PP staff told me that a "specific department", instructed them to don t release my money before 180 days...

The reason is : I'm suspected to own more than 3 accounts... It's true I had a old one that I closed several years ago but that's it.
They also believe my products are not fulfill the law.. but after offer to them to initiate a deep check on them with all paperworks, they weren't very interested and declined the offer (so I suspect the main problem is my old account)

Now I consider 2 options :

1- wait and see what happen after these 180 days
2- hire my lawyer to sue them.

The option 2 is costly. (it will require between 3 to 6K Euro), and might be useless since it may not fasten the process or even change anything to the problem (funds will likely be released anyway after 6 months )

I think I will go for the option 1 but send them a bailiff just to let them now I have a legal advisor on my side...

I think I would have a heart attack if that much money got frozen with no guarantee of it being released. Especially if they suspect the items you sell are fraudulent. Who needs HMRC / Trading standards to investigate when you have Paypal doing their job for them.

no heart attack but yes, it doesn t feel very good.
I ll never trust PayPal (or any wallet) again in my the future.
