“Unfortunately, we're unable to verify your identity..." Not VOIP issue? Link PayPal?
Family member w/all real info, address on driver's license is banned by eBay so our plan is to sign up for eBay using passport + an address of another property they just sold. When we tried to list a first item, eBay sent a text, provided last 4 of SSN and DOB then got this message:
“Unfortunately, we're unable to verify your identity. To learn more, you can contact us."
Contacted eBay via chat and they claimed a verified PayPal account needed to be linked to enroll in eBay payments? Is this accurate? I've read that this error message is associated with using a VO IP phone # and we are using a Google voice # but there doesn't appear that there will be a way around this even if we changed the phone #? When we try to list an item now it just brings up the same error message “Unfortunately, we're unable to verify your identity...". It doesn't ask for ssn or offer to send a verification SMS at this point. So would changing our phone # to a non-VOIP # in account settings do anything to bypass this error and receive a new SMS verification code?
Should I link PayPal to eBay or is this rep full of it? Haven't added a debit card to eBay or PayPal since we're only going to use this account for selling, should we add a debit card? eBay & PayPal are brand new accounts, 1 week old, all real info. Will be adding a bank account with matching name (missing middle name on bank account though) to PayPal soon.
